Scope and Content
Item is a mini Torah housed in a black box with gold Hebrew lettering with an image of a Torah and Star of David on the front. The inner lining of the box is marbled paper. The Torah is wrapped with red fabric. It was presented to Sydney Harris on the occasion of his confirmation at Holy Blossom Temple.
Physical Condition
The edges of the box are quite worn and fraying in some places.

Admin History/Bio
The first Canadian section of the National Council of Jewish Women was founded in Toronto in 1897. Toronto Section has been one of the most active sections of the National Council of Jewish Women of Canada and has provided many of its leaders. This series charts the growth of Toronto Section, predominantly from the 1930s through the early 1990s.
Scope and Content
Series consists of annual reports, bulletins and Council Communiqués, executive and board minutes, chairmen's handbooks, event and Angel's Ball programs and invitations, publicity material, scrapbooks, photographs, newsclippings, published histories, reports, anniversary booklets, architectural drawings of Council House, certificates, playscripts, audio recordings and a videocassette of the council's history.
The series is divided into 13 sub-series: Presidents; Executive; Board of Directors; Communication porfolio; Membership portfolio; Education portfolio; Thrift shop portfolio; Ways and means portfolio; Finance portfolio; House committee; Service portfolio; Special events; and Toronto Section archival material.

Accession consists of material documenting Kulanu Toronto, the city's main Jewish LGBTQ+ social, educational, and cultural group. Included are: 209 photographs of Kulanu Toronto at the 2013 Pride parade; 194 photographs of the World Congress of GLBT Jews held in Winnipeg in 2013; newspaper clippings documenting various activities and initiatives of Kulanu Toronto including its opposition to the presence of the Queers Against Israeli Apartheid (QuAII) group at Pride; and material pertaining to the Eighteen: 22 LGBTQ Jewish gathering in Salzburg, Austria.

Kulanu Toronto was founded in 2000. It incorporated as a not-for-profit in 2014. Following its dissolution in 2018, some of its functions were taken over by the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre LGBTQ Initiative.

Accession consists of material documenting Limmud Toronto. Included are: filled-out presenter forms for the year 2007, flyers and pamphlets, legal mandate, volunteering notes and materials, project charters, organizational documents, research materials, meeting notes, miscellaneous notes of Sharoni Sibony, planning for the 2017 Tikkum Leit Shavuot, a UJA staff training document from 2009, and a document assigning tasks for the 2009 conference.
Administrative History
Alastair Falk, Michael May, Jonathan Benjamin, and Clive Lawton founded Limmud (Hebrew for "learning") in Britain in 1980. The first Limmud conference was held at Carmel College in Oxfordshire. Over the next two decades, Limmud grew to become Europe's largest Jewish learning event.
In December 2001, Peter Sevitt attended the Limmud conference at Nottingham University with his family. Inspired, he made the decision to bring Limmud to Canada, which he did in 2004. The first Limmud conference in Canada was held on 21 November 2004 at York University's Founders College. Initially slated to run every two years, Limmud Toronto went on hiatus after holding conferences in 2007 and 2009 but returned in 2015. As of 2018, it was still active.

Custodial History
Former executive director Justine Apple kept the records on a USB flash drive. In September 2018, she transferred copies of the records to a computer belonging to the Ontario Jewish Archives, Blankenstein Family Heritage Centre.

Series consists of records documenting Phil Givens’ work as Mayor of Toronto from 1963 until 1966. The bulk of the records are photographs featuring Mayor Givens at various city and community events; of note are images of Givens meeting with Robert Kennedy, Israeli President Zalmon Shazar, Sam Shopsowitz, and Pope Paul VI. Also included is general correspondence, speeches, election campaign materials, cartoons, certificates, artifacts, textual records related to the acquisition of the Henry Moore sculpture, a VHS cassette of Givens discussing the building of the New City Hall and an audiocassette documenting a council trip to Montreal in 1966. In addition, there is a small number of photographs which document events that occurred outside the dates of his time in office, but which relate to his role as mayor.

Admin History/Bio
Mandel Sprachman's published Inventory of Kaplan & Sprachman theatre projects (Historic Theatres' Trust Bulletin, Spring-Summer 1996) states that Kaplan & Sprachman renovated the Pylon in 1944. The probable creation date is based on the release date for the advertised movies. John Sebert's book, The "nabes", states that the Pylon was built in 1939 and designed by the architect Ben Swartz.
