The Ontario Camps Association was established by the Zionist Organization of Canada as a regional administrative body reponsible for overseeing the operation of the ZOC-owned summer camps in Ontario. The Regional Executive Vice-President was in charge of supervising the Ontario Camps Association which also included the Ontario Zionist Region Committee on Camping. In addition to being charged with the general maintenence, upkeep, and operation of the Ontario camps, the Ontario Camps Association was also responsible for implementing the standards and guidelines set forth by the National Camps Association.
The Ontario Camps Association oversaw the operation of three camps in Ontario: Camp Shalom, Camp Solelim, and Camp Massad. Responsibility for Camp Biluim was shared by the Ontario Camps Association and the National Camps Association. Although it was located in the Ontario region, it was a leadership training institute and thus of national significance.
Scope and Content
The series is organized into 5 sub-series, containing records relating to the administrative functions of the Camps Association and the Ontario Zionist Region Committee on Camping (1965-1968), and to the summer camps under its governance: Camp Biluim (1963-1967); Camp Massad (1957-1970); Camp Shalom (1965-1978); and Camp Solelim (1965, 1974). The Camp Solelim sub-series also contains three Super 8 film reels depicting camp activities, and a videocassette transfer of these film reels created by the archives in 2003.

Camp Biluim was founded in 1961 under the auspices of the Zionist Organization of Canada as a national leadership training institute for Canadian youth. Originally located in Huntsville Ontario, the camp moved to Mont Tremblant, Quebec in 1976, where it remains today under the full operation of Canadian Young Judaea. The purpose of the camp was to provide practical and transferable leadership training to a slightly older group of Jewish Canadian youths, most of whom were members of Young Judaea. Many Camp Biluim graduates later returned to ZOC summer camps as counsellors or found senior administrative positions in Canadian Young Judaea.
Camp Biluim was co-administered by the National Camps Association, and during its period in Ontario, the Ontario Camps Association. However, daily operation and staffing of the summer camp was provided by Canadian Young Judaea.

Camp Massad was located in Torrance, Ontario, in the heart of the Muskokas, and was therefore under the jurisdiction of the Ontario Camps Association. It was a summer camp for Jewish Canadian youth co-sponsored by the Zionist Organization of Canada and Karen Hatarbut.

Camp Shalom was founded in 1948 by the Zionist Organization of Canada as a summer camp for youth between the ages of 9 and 13. Located in Gravenhurst, Ontario, Camp Shalom was one of the most successful of the Zionist camps. Camp Shalom was under the direct supervision of the Ontario Camps Association, which received its guidelines and standards from the National Camps Association. However, the daily operation and staffing of the camp was provided by Young Judaea. The camp still exists today and is jointly operated by the Toronto Zionist Council and Canadian Young Judaea.
Scope and Content
The sub-series consists of files created between 1965 and 1978. These files include: staffing records, staff contracts, camper registration records, press and publicity records, programming and procedure records, office and administration records, director's reports, and Camp Shalom Committee meeting minutes, correspondence and reports.

The camp was located just outside of Sudbury, Ontario and was under the direct supervision of the Ontario Camps Association, who recieved their standards and guidelines from the National Camps Association. However, daily operation and staffing of the camp was provided by Canadian Young Judaea, which still operates the camp today.

The sub-series consists of procedure records, press and publicity records, programming records, financial records, and a visitor's day camp booklet, created between 1965 and 1968. The sub-series also contains 3 film reels created in 1974 and 1 videocassette transfer of those reels, depicting various camp activities.

The Ontario Camps Association operated under the Regional Executive of the Zionist Organization of Canada as an administratvie body responsible for overseeing the operation of the ZOC-owned summer camps located in Ontario. The Camps Association was supervised by the Regional Executive Vice-President of ZOC, and consisted of administrative support staff and the Ontario Zionist Region Committee on Camping, which was led by an appointed chairman. The Committee sat throughout the year for the purpose of discussing the standards and guidelines set forth by the National Camps Association and to determine the day-to-day needs of the camps. The regional chairman was also the appointed regional representative for the National Camps Committee.
The Ontario Camps Association was directly reponsible for the administrative operations of Camp Shalom, Camp Solelim, Camp Massad, and Camp Biluim in co-operation with the National Camps Association.

The sub-series consists of files related to the administrative functions of the Ontario Camps Committee during the period between 1965 and 1968. Activities undertaken by the Committee for Soviet Jewry in Ontario and its affiliated partner organizations included political lobbying, telephone and letter-writing campaigns, product boycotting, symposiums, public rallies, petitions, marches and demonstrations. Among the highest profile activities were the annual Simcha Torah rallies in October and the annual commemorations of the execution of twenty-four Soviet Jewish writers and intellectuals, which had occurred on August 12, 1952 at Moscow's Liubianka prison. As well as organizing public protest activities, the Committee for Soviet Jewry established, in the 1980s, the Ida Nudel Humanitarian Award which emphasized the humanitarian work of a number of prominent Canadian women. Other non-protest activities included bar/ bat mitzvah twinning, family and prisoner sponsorships, and holiday greetings, all programmes that tied the daily lives of Soviet Jews to their Canadian counterparts.
Scope and Content
Sub-series consists of records documenting the wide range of above-listed protest activities in which the CJC and various affiliated organizations participated. The files include numerous photographs of mass rallies and group demonstrations, planning notes, correspondence, event notices and other promotional materials.

The Men’s Service Group (MSG) of the Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care was established in 1956 to assist Baycrest with both its fundraising and public relations activities. It also supplied volunteers to help run programs and services for Baycrest’s residents and patients, and acted as a training ground for future lay leaders of Baycrest. Herbert J. Weiss served as the founding president and was succeeded by Charles A. Grosberg in 1960.
The MSG’s activities included driving residents to events, organizing special outings to the theatre, concerts, or sporting events, planning a monthly Sunday Brunch for residents and patients, assisting with recreational programming at Baycrest, and meeting with organizations across Ontario, such as synagogues and service clubs, to disseminate information about Baycrest. The MSG also planned an annual Family Carnival and picnic for residents and their families and organized a variety of fundraising projects, such as its annual Honour Roll publication, an annual Fun Run (now known as the Baycrest Challenge), a letter and greeting card service, garage sales, and the sale of Yarmulkes made by residents. Today the MSG continues to plan and run many of its early projects and services.

Series consists of textual and graphic material documenting the formation, governance, and activities of the Men's Service Group. Included are meeting notices, agendas, and minutes, reports, speeches, invitations, programs, correspondence, press releases, newspaper clippings, brochures, publications, financial records, newsletters, flyers, cards, certificates, photographs, posters, and cards.

The Men's Service Group's board of directors was responsible for the management of all of the MSG's activities and programs. The MSG's executive committee was responsible for carrying out the MSG's business in the interim between the meetings of the board of directors. All decisions of the executive committee were subject to the board's approval. The board of directors met at least three times each year and had between fifty and seventy-five members. The executive committee met at least six times per year and was made up of MSG's elected officers, committee chairmen, and other members of the board of directors. The officers of the Men's Service Group consisted of a president, four vice-presidents, a secretary, and a treasurer. The president presided over all meetings of both the board of directors and the executive committee.

The Men's Service held at least two general meetings each year. The first meeting was typically held in the spring and consisted of the installation of the elected officers and Board of Directors, the presentation of the annual report, and any other necessary business. In 1962, after the MSG established its "Man of the Year" award, the spring meeting often included the presentation of this award as well as other honours and awards. Other meetings were usually held in the fall and winter and often had varied agendas.
Scope and Content
Sub-series consists of textual and graphic material documenting the planning and implementation of the Men's Service Group's annual and general meetings as well as the selection of award recipients who were honoured at these meetings. Included are invitations, agendas, meeting minutes, meeting notices, programs, speeches, reports, lists, correspondence, financial reports, flyers, a press release, a photograph, and a dinner menu.

The MSG's "Man of the Year" Selection Committee (or "Man of the Year" Nomination Committee) was responsible for identifying the recipient of the MSG's annual Man of the Year award, which was typically presented to the winner at the MSG's annual spring meeting. The award was initiated in 1962 and was presented to men who had helped improve the well being of the elderly or chronically ill either at Baycrest or elsewhere.
