Series consists of the minutes of regular and special meetings of the Executive Committee of the United Jewish Welfare Fund of Toronto. Meetings were originally on a monthly basis, with additional and special meetings occurring in late spring and at the end of the calendar year. By the 1970s they occurred much more frequently, every week in many months. Most minute files also include agendas as well as reports and correspondence associated with meeting discussion topics. Records in this series have been arranged chronologically.

Sub-series consists of a complete run of minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors of the UJWF. from 1939 through 1975. Also included are occassional sets of study reports on education and communal organization prepared for the Board. Files are arranged chronologically.

Prior to 1947, minutes of the National Administrative Council and the Executive Board were interfiled by date. Beginning in 1947 Council and Board minutes were kept in separate binders, and only the minutes of the Executive Board have survived.
The Commission of Enquiry Regarding Canadian Olim was struck by the Zionist Organization of Canada and co-sponsored by Hadassah-Wizo in 1975 to investigate the situation and experience of Canadians who had emmigrated to Israel. The Commission was composed of members of the executive of the Zionist Organization of Canada and Hadassah-Wizo who interviewed Olim to document their experiences during the process of Aliyah and adjustment to life in Israel. The Commission of Enquiry disbanded in 1977.

The sub-series includes Commission correspondence, minutes of meetings, lists of observers, reports, copies of the questionnaire distributed to Olim, and clippings from Canadian and Israeli newspapers concerning the Commission of Enquiry.
Prior to each national convention, the National Administrative Council struck an ad hoc committee to review the constitution and present recommended resolutions. This committee was called the Constitution Committee. It was composed of members of the Council and the leadership in communities from every region.

The sub-series consists of minutes of committee meetings, correspondence and memoranda between committee members, and copies of the amendments drafted by the committee for consideration at the 31st through 41st national conventions, during the period 1952 -1975.
The sub-series consists of correspondence between members of the National Administrative Council during the period 1970-1976. Files are organized monthly and concern ZOC activities and programmes such as summer camps, the Charitable Fund, Shalom television programme, and national conventions.
The National Treasurer of the Zionist Organization of Canada was a member of the National Administrative Council and the Executive Board. The National Treasurer was responsible for reporting on the financial situation of the Zionist Organization of Canada through the presentation of auditor's reports and financial statements. These documents were presented for review and approval at national conventions.
Scope and Content
The sub-series is organized into two sub-sub-series: auditor's reports (1929-1966); and, copies of financial reports submitted by the treasurer to the national conventions (1922-1968).
Sub-series consists of minutes, correspondence and reports of meetings of the Administration Committee. Also included are minutes of a short-lived 1963 sub-committee constituted to produce a new funding formula specifying how the entire U.J.A. budget was to be divided. Files are arranged chronologically.
Sub-series consists of minutes of meetings of the Committee on Capital Needs and Planning. These contain discussions both with individual agencies and also groups of agencies such as schools and camps. Plans for special capital campaigns to finance new facilities for such agencies as Mount Sinai Hospital, the YM-YWHA and the Jewish Home for the Aged are documented within this sub-series.

Sub-series consists of minutes of meetings of the Special Joint Committee of the Bureau of Jewish Education and the United Jewish Welfare Fund. Included within these records are correspondence and a final report of the Committee.
Activities undertaken by the Committee for Soviet Jewry in Ontario and its affiliated partner organizations included political lobbying, telephone and letter-writing campaigns, product boycotting, symposiums, public rallies, petitions, marches and demonstrations. Among the highest profile activities were the annual Simcha Torah rallies in October and the annual commemorations of the execution of twenty-four Soviet Jewish writers and intellectuals, which had occurred on August 12, 1952 at Moscow's Liubianka prison. As well as organizing public protest activities, the Committee for Soviet Jewry established, in the 1980s, the Ida Nudel Humanitarian Award which emphasized the humanitarian work of a number of prominent Canadian women. Other non-protest activities included bar/ bat mitzvah twinning, family and prisoner sponsorships, and holiday greetings, all programmes that tied the daily lives of Soviet Jews to their Canadian counterparts.

Sub-series consists of records documenting the wide range of above-listed protest activities in which the CJC and various affiliated organizations participated. The files include numerous photographs of mass rallies and group demonstrations, planning notes, correspondence, event notices and other promotional materials.

Indicated date ranges at the file level are of the documents themselves and are not necessarily indicative of the dates of specific events, such as rallies or marches, though such dates are noted in the file description where known.
