Admin History/Bio
Jacob Adler was born in circa 1896, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Adler. He was married to Rose Adler (ca. 1899-1998). Jacob was originally from Guelph, Ontario where he worked in the clothing business, and was a founding member of Guelph's Beth Isaiah Synagogue. In the 1950s, Jacob and Rose moved to Toronto. He was the Gabbai of Beth David Synagogue in Toronto for over twenty-five years and both Jacob and Rose were supporters of Jewish and non-Jewish charities, schools and hospitals. Jacob died on 15 November 1989, at the age of 93, and Rose died on 30 October 1998, at the age of 99.

Isadore Green was born 22 September 1898, in Poland, the son of Younison and Rivka Green. He married Toby (née Goldman) and had three children: Goldie, Carl and Jerry.
Green was an active member of the Toronto Jewish community. He was the past president and secretary of the Ostrovtzer Congregation; president of the Adeth Israel Congregation in Oshawa; president of the Radomer Mutual Benefit Society; founder and secretary of the Radomer Co-operative Credit Association Ltd.; founder and treasurer of the Canadian Polish Farband; executive member of the Canadian Jewish Congress Board; national recording secretary of the United Radomer Relief, USA and Canada; founder of the Warsaw Lodzer; founder of the Toronto branch of the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society; founder of Beth Radom Congregation, and an active Israel Bonds salesman.

Admin History/Bio
Dr. Irwin Lightman was born on 22 October 1919, in Vienna, Austria. He was the son of Samuel and Sarah Lichtman of Galicia, Austria. On 20 July 1946, he married Selma (née Vise) and together they had three children: Bernard, Ellen and Jonathan. Lightman was a dentist by profession. He was an active supporter of the Jewish Home for the Aged and Baycrest Hospital. Irwin also chaired the UJA's Toronto Leadership Developement Group in the 1960s, a group whose aims were to train young men to take on responisbilities within the Jewish community, societies and welfare funds.
Selma Lightman is the daughter of Gertrude Schwartz, who was the cousin of Sylvia Schwartz, the photographer. Selma was a Membership Chairperson for the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University during the 1960s, while Irwin was an executive member.

May Cohen was born in Montreal in 1931 to Sam and Mania Lipshitz and grew up in Toronto. After graduating from high school as the top student in Ontario, she attended medical school at the University of Toronto and again led her class, earning a gold medal for academic excellence. Dr. Cohen first practiced family medicine in Toronto and then joined McMaster University's Faculty of Health Sciences in 1977 to teach and practice family medicine. She co-founded the Women's Health Office at McMaster and also the Women's Health InterSchool Curriculum Committee for Ontario's medical schools. From 1991 to 1996 she served the Faculty of Health Sciences as associate dean of Health Services.
Dr. May Cohen is married to Dr. Gerry Cohen, a semi-retired family practitioner in Hamilton, and is the mother of Eric, Russell, and the late Stuart. She has five grandchildren.

He married Pearl Tureck on 11 July 1943 and had 2 children, Alan and Linda (now Halperin). He has 4 grandchildren, Sasha, Rachel, Jeffrey, and Joshua.
Pearl Stackle, nee Tureck (b. 6 May 1922 - d. 30 November 1974) was born in Toronto and had 2 sisters, Molly Segal (d. 22 July 2010) and Goldie Cooper. She married Ben Stackle on 11 July 1943 and had 2 children, Alan and Linda (now Halperin). She has 4 grandchildren, Sasha, Rachel, Jeffrey, and Joshua.

Scope and Content
Accession consists of material documenting members of Glen Eker's family. Included are: copies of Benjamin Eker's military records, black and white photographs of Dorothy Horwitz and Paul Eker from their wedding album, and a Bayview Pharmacy Christmas card.
Administrative History
Glen Eker was born in Toronto, Ontario to Paul Eker and Dorothy Horwitz. He grew up in the Forest Hill neighbourhood of Toronto before moving with his family to Hamilton. He received two master’s degrees (one in sociology, the other in political science) from McMaster University and a third master’s degree (in library science) from the University of Toronto. Glen's wife, Deborah Pekilis, was born in Montreal and lived there until her parents moved to Toronto. She was the librarian for the Jewish Genealogical Society and sat on the Hamilton Historical Board. She is currently a writer. Glen has worked as a research assistant and a teaching assistant at McMaster and has taught at Ryerson University and Mohawk College. At present, he works as an estate and genealogy researcher. Glen has published a book on Karl Marx, five indexes of Jews in Canada, and one index of Amish and Mennonites in Canada. His genealogy articles have appeared in various magazines and his short stories and poems have appeared in print as well. Glen has worked on his family genealogy for a number of years. His paternal family line derives from Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland while his maternal line derives from Byelorussia and Romania. He is descended from the Horwitz and Strachman families on the latter.

Rabbi Krivy came from Vilna. He was a shochet and teacher who served in Welland and Galt, Ontario, and by 1911, in Cobalt. Around 1917, he moved to Kitchener. He later moved to Toronto and opened a butcher shop at Dundas Street and Kensington Avenue. His store was subsequently bought by Barenholtz.
