Biography
Joseph "Joe the Orangeman" Fremar was a produce merchant in Kensington Market and opened his location on Augusta Avenue in 1938. Freamar, commonly referred to as the "Orangeman" was a member of the Kiever Synagogue.

Started at location on 334 Augusta Street in 1938
Only one other merchant on Augusta at that time. He sold vegetables
His home was on Oxford Street
Since he arrived in 1938 most of the merchants have “changed around”
When he arrived in 1938 the Anshe Lida Synagogue was located on Augusta. It was located at the current fish store location
The congregants were originally from Romania
There were no religious Jewish Schools on Augusta at the time
Synagogues at the time were: Lubavitcher on Grange; Kiever on Denison; Minsker.
A man by the name of Biasky (?) brought Joseph into the Kiever Synagogue which he attended only on holidays. He also attend the Londoner Synagogue on Spadina
Joseph is still a Kiever member, does not attend but pays dues to in order to maintain his cemetery plot, which the Kiever holds at the Roselawn Cemetery.

Biography
Morris Fishman was born September 29, 1916 in New Jersey. His family moved to Welland, Ontario when he was an infant. He attended elementary and high school in Welland and completed two years at the University of Toronto. He worked in a family men's wear business in Welland. Morris was actively involved in the Jewish community including participation in the Anshe Yosher Congregation, the Jewish Cultural Society and the Jacob Goldblatt B'nai Brith Lodge. He was married and had two daughters.

Biography
Blanche Haber (nee Heller) was born in a small town in Russia in 1893. She came to Toronto at age 8. Her father worked as a peddler. She married Isadore Haber in 1915. Three of her five children died from illnesses in their childhood. Before her marriage, Blanche worked as a seamstress. Isadore worked as a tailor, primarily for Eaton's. Like her mother, once married, Blanche took boarders into their home at 112 Parliament Street.

Ellen "Honey" Dworkin, the daughter of Dorothy and Henry, was called Honey by her parents. She was born on 19 June 1912. She married Lewis Raxlan in 1932. They divorced, and she then married Leon Arthurs (d. 14 November 1980) in August 1943. They had two children, Harry and Linda. Harry later became the Dean of Osgoode Law School. She had 6 grandchildren, Robin, Mark, Laurie, Jeff, Josh, and Gideon. She died on 10 May 1991.

May Cohen was born in Montreal in 1931 to Sam and Mania Lipshitz and grew up in Toronto. After graduating from high school as the top student in Ontario, she attended medical school at the University of Toronto and again led her class, earning a gold medal for academic excellence. Dr. Cohen first practiced family medicine in Toronto and then joined McMaster University's Faculty of Health Sciences in 1977 to teach and practice family medicine. She co-founded the Women's Health Office at McMaster and also the Women's Health InterSchool Curriculum Committee for Ontario's medical schools. From 1991 to 1996 she served the Faculty of Health Sciences as associate dean of Health Services.
Dr. May Cohen is married to Dr. Gerry Cohen, a semi-retired family practitioner in Hamilton, and is the mother of Eric, Russell, and the late Stuart. She has five grandchildren.

Ben Stackle (b. 1 May 1922 - d. 9 January 2008) was born in Toronto to Lazer and Laike Stekel, and had three siblings, Maurice Harry Stekel, Ida Stepak and Anne Steiner. He married Pearl Tureck on 11 July 1943 and had 2 children, Alan and Linda (now Halperin). He has 4 grandchildren, Sasha, Rachel, Jeffrey, and Joshua.
Pearl Stackle, nee Tureck (b. 6 May 1922 - d. 30 November 1974) was born in Toronto and had 2 sisters, Molly Segal (d. 22 July 2010) and Goldie Cooper. She married Ben Stackle on 11 July 1943 and had 2 children, Alan and Linda (now Halperin). She has 4 grandchildren, Sasha, Rachel, Jeffrey, and Joshua.

Accession consists of records related to David and Anna Lang. Included are calendars from their pharmacy, two wedding portraits and VHS transfer of their wedding film from 1946, a photograph of Anna and her daughter Karen, a graduation ring and program book for Anna's graduation from the Ontario College of Pharmacy, and a photograph of the Ontario College of Pharmacy in Detroit, Michigan.

The records were donated by Don Perrier, a family friend. They were entrusted to him by Karen Lang upon her death.
Administrative History
David Lang (9 Jan. 1912-11 Dec. 1984) was the son of Abraham Leon Layefsky and Molly Forman. He had three siblings: Fay, Hyem and Sarah. He married Anna Shaw (ca. 1916-17 Nov. 2002) on 16 June 1946 at the Beth Medrosh Hagodol Chevra Tehillim (McCaul Street Synagogue) in Toronto. David and Anna were both practicing pharmacists and jointly owned Lang's Pharmacy on 745 Pharmacy Ave. Anna gradutated from the Ontario College of Pharmacy in 1939. The couple had one child, Karen Lang.

Scope and Content
Accession consists of footage of the wedding of Lyla Rotenberg to Lou Rasminsky in Forest Hill at Lyla’s home at 181 Warren Road. Included is footage of a procession of the married couple and their guests just after the wedding ceremony, guests having lunch in the garden, wedding toasts, the cutting of the cake, and the couple leaving for their honeymoon. Identified in the footage is: Lou Rasminsky, Lyla Rasminsky, Meta Rotenberg, Lil Salamon, Moe Salamon, Alec Rasminsky, Ken Rotenberg, Arthur Rotenberg, and Phyllis Greisman.
Custodial History
The video was in the possession of Michael Rasminsky, the son of Lyla and Lou. This file was created off of a VHS copy of the wedding film. The donor is not sure where the original film reels are.
Administrative History
Lyla Rotenberg and Lou Rasminsky were sweethearts at the University of Toronto. Lyla’s father, Harry Rotenberg, was a prosperous builder and developer. Lou’s father, David Rasminsky, a small business man. After graduation Lou spent two years at the London School of Economics and returned to Toronto to marry Lyla on July 15, 1930. They were both 22 years old. They went immediately to Geneva where Lou had his first job at the League of Nations. They remained in Geneva until 1939 when they returned to Ottawa and Lou’s initial appointment at the Bank of Canada where he ultimately became Governor in 1961.

Accession consists of the wedding invitation for the marriage of Sylvia Mehr and Arthur Warshavsky, as well as photocopies of original announcments of the marriage in the Jewish Standard and another unknown publication, and a copy of M. Mehr & Co. Limited letterhead. The company dealt in iron, steel and metals and was located at the foot of Bathurst St.

Sylvia Mehr was the daughter of Mandel Mehr. She married Arthur Warshavsky in 1932 at her parent's home at 126 Lauder Ave.

Administrative History
Shoresh is a grassroots Jewish environmental organization in Southern Ontario. They exist to nurture a regional Jewish community that sees environmental ethics as a core element of Jewish identity, and is actively committed to responsible stewardship of the earth. They do this through educational programs that link Jewish texts and teachings with experiences of awe and wonder of the natural world; leadership opportunities that invest in the next generation of Jewish environmental leaders; and responsive action including environmental advocacy and the production of sustainable products that enrich Jewish life. They operate out of Shoresh’s Kavanah Garden in Vaughan, Bela Farm in Hillsburgh, and through schools, synagogues, camps, and community organizations throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

Accession consists of B'nai Brith Women Toronto cookbooks from 1958, 1960-1963, 1967-1972, and B'nai Brith Women's Council of Toronto yearbooks from 1973, 1975-1976. Each cookbook has a specific theme: Food for Fun; Dinner Dates; Chef's Choice; Gourmet Goodies; Around the World; Candlelight and Wine; Calories a la Carte; Gourmet's Gallery; Confessions of a Bala Busta; Dinner Magic; and People Helping People. The 1972 issue is both a yearbook and a cookbook. From 1973 on, the yearbooks, entitled Pledged to Serve, no longer contained any recipes and instead focused solely on the work of the B'nai Birth Women's Council of Toronto and its chapters.
