Photograph was in the possession of Cherie Friend. She believes it originally belonged to her grandparents who had a music shop in Chicago. Her grandfather was born in Quebec.

Accession consists of records pertaining to the Contorowitz family including the marriage certificate of Nathan Contorowitz and Gertie Sand in Toronto, Grace Street School transfer records for their three children, and a 1940 voter registration form for Gertie Contorowitz. In addition there is a photograph of Phil Granovsky taken at Smith Bay House, Port Carling, Ontario in 1944 and an unidentified pin with Hebrew lettering inscribed "founded 1912".

Accession consists of two photographs of the reception at which Julius Miller was recognized by the Jewish community of Cornwall for his 25 years of service as President of Beth-El Congregation, with a grove of trees planted in his name by the Jewish National Fund. Julius Miller was the father of the donor.

Scope and Content
This accession consists of records related to the Jewish community of Peterborough, Ontario, particularly the Beth Israel Congregation, the B'nai Brith lodge and the Hadassah chapter. The records include a Beth Israel Congregation diamond jubilee booklet, bulletins and correspondence, B'nai Brith bulletins, Hadassah-Wizo event invitation, programs, a recollection on the Peterborough Jewish community written by Rabbi Abraham Fine, with accompanying colour photograph, as well as one photograph of Martin Hollend with several other members of the Peterborough B'nai Brith lodge during the opening launch in 1939. The file also contains a list of people who attended the dinner, notes for Sara Edell Kelman's speech about Sol, and other stories written for the commemorative journal.
