- Admin History/Bio
- The Zionist Organization of Canada was created in 1921 to represent the Jewish Community in Canada. ZOC held a national conference as well as regional conferences. The Central Region held its first annual conference in 1909. After that point, they continued to hold conferences, however, no conferences were held during the war years of 1914-1917 and 1939-1945. Beginning in 1950, at the 20th Conference, the Central Region of the Zionist Organization of Canada began to hold their regional conference every two years.
- Scope and Content
- The series is organized into two sub-series, for national conventions and Central Region conventions. The records in these sub-series include: correspondence; agendas; reports; programs of the conferences; committee lists; delegate lists; resolutions and photographs. While it was generally the case that Central Region officials were participants in the national conventions and organizers of their Central Region conventions, thereby suggesting functional differences in the contents of the two sub-series, Central Region officials were often involved in the organization of the national conventions as well.
- This series includes files concerning the 16th to 28th Plenary Conferences of the Zionist Organization of Canada - Central Region. These conferences occurred during the period between 1946 and 1968 and were held in communities across Ontario.
