- Hyman and Ettie Sobol were the parents of Stanley Sobol. Stan was born in Hamilton, Ontario on 21 June 1920. An industrialist, he was President of Kent Steel Products Ltd., which was founded in 1942. Interested in Jewish issues, he visited Israel in 1957 as a member of the United Jewish Appeal study mission, and Vienna in 1959 on a mission to rescue Romanian Jews.
- He was chairman of the Heavy Industry Division of U.J.A. for two years, co-founder of the Jewish Home for the Aged & Baycrest Hospital and the New Mount Sinai Hospital, and as well, he was an executive member for the Central Region of Zionist Organization of Canada, Associated Hebrew Schools, Israeli Bonds and Jewish Welfare Fund.
