- Ed Gelber, a communal leader, was born on 16 November 1903. He married Anna David, and they had three children named Edna, Lynn, and David. Gelber was educated as a lawyer and rabbi but worked mostly within Jewish organizations as an upper administrator. He was the past president for the Zionist Council of Canada, the Hebrew Schools of Toronto, and the Toronto Jewish Welfare Fund. He also held high posts at several other Jewish organizations and devoted his time and energy volunteering for the Jewish community and the cause of Israel. Ed Gelber eventually relocated to Israel.
