Series consists of correspondence, photographs, and related documents from Holocaust survivors from Ostrowiec, Poland, and other various individuals living in North and South America, Europe, and Palestine. They document the immediate postwar experiences of survivors from Ostrowiec and the ongoing challenges they faced in the aftermath of the Holocaust.
Arrangement
The files within the series are arranged alphabetically first, by surname of the letter writer, and chronologically second.

Access Restriction
Records in off-site storage; advance notice required to view.
Closed. Researchers must receive permission from the OJA director prior to accessing the records.
Arrangement
The title of each file is either the name of the prospective immigrant or the name of their sponsor in Canada. JIAS had originally arranged these files chronologically based upon the date a case was first opened by the office, such as the date of their first interview with a prospective immigrant, or the date they first corresponded with an international agency.
A suffix following the file number (eg. A, B) indicates a separate file opened for the individual, rather than the same file divided into two folders. For example, an individual may have immigrated to Canada and then sponsored a family member, in which case JIAS would have created two separate files. Some appear with the prefix A, meaning assistance, and others with S.S., meaning social service.
File consists of a membership card for Saul Cowan for the Council of Canadians, correspondence from the North York Chorus and John Oostrom, MP for Willowdale, the March 1989 edition of "The Ploughshares Monitor", and a book review of "Passages" by Gail Sheeny written by Saul Cowan and presented at several senior citizens gatherings.
File consists of acknowledgements of receipts or pledges to various organizations made by Lipa Green, Mrs. Green or both of them, or by Greenwin Construction Co. Examples are a pledge to UJA, a donation to the Jewish Public Library, a pledge to Bialik Hebrew Day School Building Fund Campaign, and an acknowledgement of a donation to Beth Jacob High School. Other organizations who received donations are Jewish Labour Committee, Toronto Workmen's Circle and Hebrew National Association. There are three certificates issued by the Jewish Natioanl Fund acknowledging a tree planted in Israel, two certificates in honour of Lipa Green, and one in memory of Bella Gladman, Lipa's sister.
