- Admin History/Bio
- Shalom was a television programme produced by the Zionist Organization of Canada's Department of Education and Culture, and included Israeli and world Jewish news, interviews and entertainment segments.
- The Department was established in 1970 to provide leadership in the area of Jewish day school education through the development of day school curricula and programmes. Shalom began as a joint project of ZOC and the Keren Hatarbut Central Region office in Toronto, and was shown initially on York Cablevision in Toronto. In August 1971, the Department took over full responsibility for the programme, and Hanoch Rizman was hired as producer/director of Shalom. The production of Shalom became the Department's primary activity in 1971, and its distribution was increased to include the Rogers Cable TV and MacLean-Hunter Cable TV stations in Ontario.
- Scope and Content
- The series contains correspondence with programme participants and guests, television station staff and ZOC officials, minutes of meetings of the Television Committee of the Department of Education and Culture, and detailed script and scheduling information for individual programmes. The series also includes photographs of programme guests and production staff.
