- For Israel's fiftieth birthday, the Walk for Israel underwent many dramatic changes. Renamed the "Israel at 50 Fun Walk," the "march-as-one" style became a more staggered walk again, with a brand new seven-and-a-half-kilometre route in downtown Toronto. The new walk was more high profile and elaborate, starting with opening ceremonies and entertainment at Nathan Phillips Square, then winding through Old Jewish Toronto, through two checkpoints, and on to Ontario Place, where the Israel at 50 Festival was held. The date of the walk was Sunday, 24 May, and its slogan was "Let's Step Together." The chairs were Jeff Cohen, Fran Grundman, and Corey Mandell, with the assistance of committee members and walk staff Silvia Astrug and Naomi Cohen. More than fifteen thousand people turned out for the day, and more than $250,000 were raised.
- Scope and Content
- Sub-sub-series contains textual records, photographs, posters, artifacts (giveaways) and a promotional video from the 1998 Funwalk, the festival, and the learnathon. The files are arranged by function in this order: walk oversight (the Cabinet Committee and chairs), recruitment of participants and staff volunteers, logistics, publicity and design, corporate sponsorship, finances, the walk event itself, the festival, related fundraisers, and post-event evaluation and follow-up.
- Notes
- Physical description note: Includes 380 photographs (175 negatives), 4 posters, 2 hats, a T-shirt and 1 videocassette.

- Scope and Content
- File contains design mock-ups, letters, memos, and content, for the sponsor book designed for adults. Also in the file are copies of Russian emigration documents used for reference, and perhaps considered for inclusion, in the adult sponsorship book, since the Walk theme was focussed on the "exodus" of Soviet Jews making aliyah to Israel. These Russian documents include flight tickets, a Soviet Exit visa, an Israeli entry visa, and the form used to "invite" relatives and others to Israel.

- Series contains records of immigrant arrivals in Canada from 1949 through 1986. The "sailings" files are basically passenger lists from Atlantic voyages between 1949 and 1953 that brought immigrants to Canada. These lists are marked, showing which immigrants were sponsored by JIAS. Not all of the immigrants were Jews. Information included indicates the ship name; date and place of departure; date and place of arrival; names of passengers; their children and ages; sponsors and their address. Some lists include age, sex, occupation and destination information for sponsor or immigrant. The later "record of arrivals" files (1959 to 1986) contain lists, letters, telegrams and memoranda, as well as "agency notification cards" that list the immigrant arriving, citizenship and destination (sponsor) in Canada, and number of dependents. The series is arranged in chronological order.
- Access Restriction
- Closed. Researchers must receive permission from the OJA director prior to accessing the records.
- Physical Condition
- Records are foxed, some have rust or water stains.
- Arrangement
- Series has been arranged by the archivist in a combination of two previous series. The original "Sailings" series (MG2 I1a I) was arranged in two separate groups, the first of sailings for which JIAS had an official number (these numbers are still on the folders), and the second of those without a number. These two groups have been integrated into a single chronological series. The Record of Arrivals files were formerly part of the MG2 I1a K2 series, "Immigrant Files - Administration, Projects."

- The Learnathon was a 12.5 hour Torah study session carried out by grade 6, 7 and 8 boys at Eitz Chaim Day School. Prompted by the conflict between Walk scheduling and school classes, the event had been going on for over twenty years in 1993. This year, they raised over $18,000.
- Scope and Content
- File contains minutes of "Athons" chairmen meetings, a flyer for the Pre-Walk-a-thon Bash (danceathon), a flyer for the Aerobathon and two letters regarding the events. File also includes letters, posters and sponsor sheets and 11 colour photographs of the aerobathon. Records of the Eitz Chaim Learnathon include 11 images of students studying during the event and a thank you letter from the co-chairmen of the 1993 Walk to Rabbi Weinberg of Eitz Chaim.
