Textual records include Charles Pierce’s naturalization documents; a short message from William Lyon Mackenzie King to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pierce; a ketubah of Rebecca (Becky) Pierce and Maurice Brovender; newspaper clippings documenting the fire in Charles’ store building; Dorothy’s birth certificate and high school entrance certificate; correspondence and messages to Dorothy and Max Lieff; and material relating to Dorothy and Max Lieff’s marriage, including two marriage certificates, a wedding book, wedding greeting cards, and a Canada forest certificate issued by Jewish National Fund of Canada as a wedding gift. - Dorothy Lieff (née Brovender) (1922-2019) was born in 1922 to Rebecca (Becky) Pierce and Morris (Maurice) Brovender. Rebecca and Morris got married in 1917 in Timmins, Ontario. Dorothy had two siblings: Jack and Shirley. Rebecca was born to Charles and Jennie Pierce and had a brother named David Pierce. Charles owned a general store in South Porcupine.

- The first manuscript group (MG2 B5) consists of material documenting B'nai Brith Lodge 1234 of Timmins, Ontario. Included are a minute book for the years 1962–1968, an attendance register for the years 1947–1951, a fifteenth anniversary souveneer program from September 1950, two copies of a program for an event featuring guest speaker Senator J. Bradette that was held on 10 January 1954, correspondence for the years 1956–1968, minutes from 1950–1968, and a constitution from 18 June 1936.
- The second manuscript group (MG3 B22) consists of material documenting Congregation B'nai Israel of Timmins. Included are six membership cards for the years 1939–1940 and 1940–1941, three seat number cards (no date), a membership account ledger for the years 1942–1948 and 1948–1950, a general financial ledger for the years 1941–1949, membership assessment lists for the yeras 1942–1943 and 1946–1947, and financial statements for the years 1937–1954.

- Biography
- Fred Schaeffer's wife, Beverley, grew up in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Beverley's grandfather, Hyman Kaplan, emigrated from Vilna, Lithuania in 1907, and after a few years in New York, moved to Toronto. Shortly afterwards, he became the first Jew to settle in Kirkland Lake in 1914.
- In the 1920s, the Jewish community in Kirkland Lake built a permanent synagogue and acquired an aron kodesh of eastern European design, its lamps, railings, pews and reader’s desk, from the disbanded Ukrainishe Shul in Montreal. In the 1970s, the Kirkland Lake Synagogue disbanded and Fred and Beverly Schaeffer acquired the aron kodesh, all of its furnishings, the ner tamid, and the parochet. They generously donated these Jewish artifacts to Beth Tikvah Synagogue, Toronto, in 1988, in memory of Isadore Kaplan, father of Beverly Schaeffer and Erich Schaeffer, father of Fred Schaeffer.
- Fred married Beverley in Toronto. Like many children from Kirkland Lake, Beverley had moved to the city to attend university. Fred and Beverley are keen collectors of Canadian art. He is a retired civil engineer and a former chair of the Canadian Art Historical Committee at the AGO.

- Mr. J. Pearlman was the owner of a drygoods store and residence at 261 Danforth Avenue in the 1910s. In the 1920s, Mr. Pearlman moved his residence and business to 525 Danforth Avenue.

- File contains architectural plans for alterations and additions to a three storey building for Mr. J. Pearlman at 261 Danforth Avenue. The first floor contained stores and a billiards room, and the second and third floors contained accommodations for a five bedroom dwelling. Floor plans, sections, elevation views, and a block plan are included. This project was one of Benjamin Brown's earlier commissions.

In 1918, in anticipation of more Apter immigrants coming to Toronto after the First World War, the synagogue was sold and a larger one purchased on Beverley Street. Both the synagogue members and the Apter Friendly Society met there.

- Lilian Rosenthal is the daughter of Holocaust survivors Miriam Rosenthal (née Schwarcz) and Rabbi William Rosenthal. She grew up in Sudbury, Ontario with her siblings, Leslie and Murray.
- Lilian's parents were born in eastern Europe and came to Canada in 1947. They lived in Timmins for a year before moving to Sudbury, where William ("Bela") served as a rabbi, cantor, and teacher for sixteen years.
- In 1965, the family moved to Toronto and Miriam and William opened a Judaica store at the corner Bathurst Street and Caribou Road. Together, Lilian's parents ran the store for more than forty years until retiring in 2007. William died on 11 April 2008; Miriam died on 10 February 2018.
