Scope and Content
Accession consists of 2 photographs and a sign related to the Jewish Public Library. One photograph is of Ben Zion Hyman, founder of the library, in graduation dress. There is writing in Hebrew on top of the photograph dated October 1940. A second photograph is of Bert Godfrey, Eddie Gelber and two other gentlemen sitting in the library. The sign is from the 1960s and has the address and operating hours of the library along with some other information for the patrons

The items were housed in the library and found during renovations.

Accession consists of two photographs taken at a dinner honouring Ben Zion Hyman and the 15th anniversary of the Jewish Public Library. One photo is of the head table and several other smaller tables at the dinner, while the second photo is a posed group shot with Ben Zion Hyman. Also pictured are: Kalman Berger (top row, 6th from left), J. Marcus, Dave Green (top row, 9th from left), J. Bailin, Henry Papernik (top row, 2nd from left), R. Madesker, and Myer Gasner (bottom row, far right).

Accession consists of photographs taken by Jack Kohane of three events: the walking of the Torah on Kenilworth Ave. in Toronto to celebrate the new Torah at the Beach Hebrew Institute on 25 June 1995 featuring Barbara Hall (mayor of Toronto), Howard Moscoe (city councillor) and Arie Newman (president); an open house at the Jewish Library in the Lipa Green Building in June 1991; and an anti-racism forum held in Nov. 1992 featuring Hari Lalla, the then curriculum advisor for race relations and multiculturalism with the Toronto Board of Education. These photos were taken for he Canadian Jewish News.

Included are newsletters, meeting minutes of the board and various committees, reports and recommendations, in particular the Silver and Diamond reports and their outcomes, general correspondence, marketing and promotional materials, fundraising materials, budget requests made to the Toronto Jewish Congress, and Toronto Jewish Library Association materials.
