Admin History/Bio
Johnny Barbalinardo Lombardi was born in Toronto in 1915 (died 2002). He fought in The Second World War, and in the years after his return he started several supermarkets in the Little Italy section of Toronto. In the 1960s, he founded the multilingual radio stations CHIN in 1966 and CHIN-FM in 1967. Later in his life, he was honoured by the Canadian government, becoming a recipient of the Order of Canada (an honour facilitated by Justice Phil Givens).
Scope and Content
Item is a photograph of Phil Givens at a celebration for Italian musicians brought to Toronto by Johnny Lombardi; Nathan Phillips appears to be giving the musicians the key to the city. Identified in the photograph are (left to right): Italian musician, Italian musician, Italian musician, Nathan Phillips, Italian musician, Johnny Lombardi, Italian musician, and Phil Givens.
