- Series consists of campaign materials, photographs and general correspondence related to Phil Givens’ role as alderman for the City of Toronto between 1951 and 1960. The photographs primarily document various city events attended by Givens; of note are images of Givens meeting with the Queen Mum, Johnny Lombardi, and Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau.
- The series has been arranged into four sub-series: 2-1. City of Toronto Council; 2-2. Municipality of Metro Toronto Council; 2-3. Public works projects; and 2-4. Official engagements.

- 3 gavels : wood with metal plate ; 25 cm in length x 9 cm in width at the head
- Scope and Content
- File consists of three wooden gavels used by Givens as chair of the Local Board of Health, chair of the Committee of Property, and the chair of the Works Committee of Metropolitan Toronto. Engraved metal plates are wrapped around the centre of the heads.
- Physical Condition
- Objects are in poor condition. The wood is fading and the metal plates have rusted.

- Johnny Barbalinardo Lombardi was born in Toronto in 1915 (died 2002). He fought in The Second World War, and in the years after his return he started several supermarkets in the Little Italy section of Toronto.
In the 1960s, he founded the multilingual radio stations CHIN in 1966 and CHIN-FM in 1967. Later in his life, he was honoured by the Canadian government, becoming a recipient of the Order of Canada (an honour facilitated by Justice Phil Givens).
