Scope and Content
Series consists of negatives and proofs produced by Sylvia Schwartz in her studio. The images depict formal portraits of both male and female Jewish military personnel. While some images show just the head and upper body of the sitter, others capture the entire body in uniform.
There are thirty-seven portraits in total. Each portrait depicts a member of the Jewish community who served in the Second World War. Portraits feature images of members of the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, Royal Canadian Navy and the Red Cross. In addition to this, there are three images of Canadian Jewish doctors who were members of the American military. Female military personnel in this series served as WRENs and in the Red Cross.
In image 34, the soldier is pictured with his wife and in image 20 the soldier is pictured with his bride. Records have been arranged alphabetically by last name at the item level.

One negative (image 26) has discoloured to a canary yellow shade; signifies that an anti-halation dye was not removed while processing; will not adversely affect the other negatives in the series.

Bill Stern enlisted in the Royal Canadian Airforce at the start of the Second World War, at the age of eighteen. He set out for Enlgand via Halifax, in 1942, and saw combat in France, Belgium and Germany as a Leading Aircraftsman.
Scope and Content
This series consists of photographs of Bill Stern and his fellow servicemen, taken during the Second World War. Most of the photographs were taken overseas, however there are a few of Bill, his brother Max, and his parents Moishe and Fanny Stern, which were taken in Toronto, and one of a fellow soldier taken after the war.
The photographs have been arranged chronologically and are described at the item level.

The Book of Life is stored at the Lipa Green Centre, where it is also available in digital format. It is also on the internet at www.feduja.org/bookoflife.
Descriptive Notes
"Book of Life" folder contains 170 photographs with various poses. "Photos" folder contains one image of each donor. "Liz Wolfe" photographs were taken for a feature article in a Foundation 'Report to the Community'.

The Men's Service Group's Honour Roll publication was first issued in 1964 and continues to be published annually. It was primarily conceived of as a fundraising project to raise funds for equipment and research at Baycrest. Individuals and organizations that give donations are honoured in the publication. The Honour Roll also acts as a public relations tool, informing the public about the activities and new developments at Baycrest. As such, it contains articles describing the programs, events, recipients of the "Man of the Year" award, and other important individuals and initiatives at Baycrest.
Scope and Content
Sub-series consists of textual records documenting the MSG's planning, fundraising, and publication of the Honour Roll. Included are meeting notices and minutes, reports, correspondence, an invitation, a photograph, and issues of the Honour Roll.

Scope and Content
Series consists of textual records and graphic material documenting Phil Givens' involvement with the Jewish community. In particular, the textual records include general correspondence, speeches and convention materials documenting his role as national president of the Canadian Zionist Federation and his involvement with many other Jewish organizations. The records also consist of certificates, scrapbooks, objects, photographs of various events within the community as well as photographic albums presented to Givens on the occasion of his 1968 Jewish National Fund Negev dinner and his 1985 Canadian Zionist Federation testimonial dinner.
The majority of the records has been arranged into nine sub-series: 9-1. B’nai Brith; 9-2. Canadian Zionist Federation; 9-3. Jewish National Fund; 9-4. Keren Hayesod; 9-5. Rho Pi Phi fraternity; 9-6. State of Israel Bonds; 9-7. United Jewish Welfare Fund / United Jewish Appeal; and 9-8. Other Jewish organizations.
