Admin History/Bio
Famous Players Canada was founded as a Canadian branch of the Famous-Players-Lasky Corporation (the precursor of Paramount Pictures) in 1920, when it merged with the Toronto based Regent Theatres. Over the next two decades, efforts were made by President N. L. Nathanson to wrestle control of Famous Players Canada from Paramount, but he ultimately failed. Famous Players Canada would remain a subsidiary of the American owned Paramount (which was purchased by Viacom in 1994) until 2005, when it was purchased by Cineplex Galaxy for 500 million dollars.
Scope and Content
File contains floor plans of two different schemes for a proposed new headquarters of Famous Players Canada. The proposed building was to be three storeys high, containing many offices and a screening room. The plans appear to be in the preliminary stages and contain no addresses on them. It is unknown if these plans were ever implemented. File also contains a floor plan of Famous Players Canada offices on the twelfth floor of the Royal Bank Building.

Admin History/Bio
The Park Plaza Hotel, originally called the Queen's Park Plaza, began construction in 1928. However, because of financial problems in the Depression it was not completed until 1936. Prior to its completion it was bought by the Park Plaza Company, a group of investors including Harry Rotenberg of Yolles and Rotenberg and Joseph Schwartz, Sylvia Schwartz's father. It was originally used as a hotel, residences and office space. Through the 1940s and 1950s it was a popular hot spot, acting as a venue for entertainers such as Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington. In the 1960s it became a popular location with the literary crowd, including Margaret Atwood and Mordecai Richler.
It was eventually bought by the Hyatt chain and re-named the Park Hyatt Toronto.

Admin History/Bio
Max Wolfe began peddling fruit and vegetables as a young man; he purchased a horse and wagon and would buy his produce from the Toronto Wholesale Fruit Market. In 1909, he bought a building at 613 Queen St. and starting selling wholesale produce with his cousin Osher Weinstein. After this business folded, Max and his brother Maurice started a new business selling oats, hay, grains and potatoes. In 1914, this business expanded and they began selling general produce under the name of Ontario Produce Company. After the Second World War, they expanded the business again into a grocery firm and changed the name to the Oshawa Wholesale Limited. This business was very successful, and eventually the brothers acquired the IGA franchise.
Max was married to Beatrice Albert in 1936. They had two children named Phyllis and Harold.
Max was a long time member of Beth Tzedec Congregation and the predecessor Beth Hamidrash Hagadol. An annual scholarship is awarded in his name through the Hy Cooper Trust Fund of Beth Tzedec's Men's Club to a student seeking to pursue Jewish Studies.
In 1966, Max and Maurice were honoured at a testimonial dinner by the Toronto Wholesale Fruit Produce Merchants Association. They were awarded the Celebrity of the Year Award in 1969 by the Sportsmen's Lodge, B'nai B'rith.
Scope and Content
Item consists of a photograph of Max and Maurice Wolfe inside the Toronto Wholesale Fruit Market. The Wolfe brothers are positioned in the forefront, and appear to be engaged in a business transaction concerning a crate of strawberries. The portrait looks staged and may have been used for an advertisement or a newspaper article featuring the Wolfe brothers.
