Scope and Content
Accession consists of records related to the community involvement of Arthur and Beatrice Minden. The records include photographs and one scrapbook posthumasly presented by Keren Hayesod (United Israel Appeal) to Arthur Minden at the dedication of a kindergarten he funded in Ashdod. Also included are 21 issues of teh Jewish Record and one issue of the UJA Picture News. The photographs document the first, second and third UJA missions to Israel, a visit to a blind school in Israel, Minden's involvement with the Muscular Dystrophy Associaton, a Friend's of Haifa University luncheon, a UJA Women's campaign trip to Ottawa, the donation of a Hebrew dictionary by Ernest Klein to the University of Haifa, as well as family trips to Israel and Miami.
Custodial History
The records were in the posession of Jo-Ann Minden, the daughter of Arthur and Beatrice Minden.

The accession consists of twenty-five photographs documenting the family of Len Berger.
Administrative History
Leonard was born in Toronto on March 3, 1923 to Samuel and Rebecca (nee Rottenberg) Berger. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a bomber during the Second World War and married Goldie Fine in 1950. He ran a business out of the their house on Wigan Crescent.
His paternal grandparents were Myer and Bertha (nee Lubnitsky) Berger. They were from Romania and arrived in Canada around 1904. The couple had four children: Samuel, Minnie (m. Lieberman), Ann (m. Bochner) and Esther (m. Bernard).
Samuel married Rebecca Rottenberg at Beth Jacob synagogue on Henry Street on 30 December 1917. Around that time the couple both worked in factories, he as a cutter and she as an operator. They resided at 102 Oxford Street. He later enlisted in the Canadian military on 4 September 1918. The couple had two children: Beatrice and Leonard.
Rebecca Rottenberg's parents were Lazar (Louis) and Bertha (nee Appell) Rottenberg. They came from Russia around 1896 and resided at112 Chestnut Street in 1901. He worked as a cloak operator.They moved to 90 Denison Street around 1910, where he worked out of his house. The family lived there for many years and raised a large family in that home. Their ten children included: Goldie, Lena, Rebecca (Becky), Louis, Harry, Pearl, Molly (Mary), Samuel, Sarah (Shirley) and Rosie.

Stephen Berger was married to Dr. Edith Steinbach and they had two sons named John and Michael. He worked as a civil engineer and was actively involved in the Jewish community holding positions with the Jewish National Fund, the Jewish Welfare Fund, Zionist Organization of Canada and others.
Berger was nominated Man of the Year at a Negev Dinner in 1959 and a Nachla was founded in his name in Israel.

Scope and Content
Accession consists of records that document Leonard's activities as a bomber in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War as well as his activities in the immediate post-war years. Textual records include letters written by Leonard to his family during the war in which he discusses such things as his fellow servicemen, the contents of parcels received from his family, his responsibilities as second navigator, and his plans for upcoming leave's of absence. Also included is Leonard's Royal Canadian Air Force flying log book (1943-1948).
Scrapbook contains photographs of Leonard's childhood and wartime experience, such as, images of his airforce crew and fellow servicemen on leave. Scrapbook also contains images of Leonard's family and friends from the post-war era, as well as some textual records, including Leonard's wartime identity card, will and map of Germany.

Accession consists of records documenting Samuel Berger and his family. Included is Sam's marriage certificate, wedding invitation, naturalization certificates, and pay book and discharge papers from the First World War. Also included is a copy of the birth certificate for Sam's wife, Rebecca (nee Rotenberg) and a newsclipping of the obituary for Rebecca's father, Lazar Rotenberg.
Custodial History
The records were in the possession of Goldie Berger, the daughter-in-law of Samuel Berger and wife of Leonard Berger.

Samuel Berger enlisted in the Canadian army in Oct. 1918. He was discharged in Dec. 1918. He married Rebecca Rotenberg in 1917.

The Daughters of Zion was the first ladies' Zionist society in Canada, founded in 1899 by Ida Lewis (Siegel). The society was involved in Zionist philanthropic work in Canada and abroad.

Item is a studio portrait of eight members of the Daughters of Zion. Ida Lewis (Siegel) is standing in the back row on the far left.

Physical Condition
Photograph has sticky tape residue on it. The tin has also begun to rust and the image is brittle and chipping off. It is recommended that the item be looked at by a photo conservator.

Scope and Content
This accession consists of photographs, Beth Israel Congregation annual almanacs, an account book, scrapbooks, and other material relating to the Florence and Collis families and the history of the Oshawa and Peterborough Jewish communities
Administrative History
Beatrice Collis (nee Florence) was married to Allan B. Collis, who owned a department store in Peterborough, Ontario called Allan B. Collis Limited. It was located on the west side of George Street, just north of Simcoe Street, and sold ladies' wear, mens' wear, and children's wear. Beatrice was active in the Peterborough Chapter of Hadassah. They had three children and later moved to Toronto.
