Mayor Leslie Saunders was mayor of Toronto from 1954-1955. He was a member of the Orange Lodge.

Scope and Content
Accession consists of a certificate awarded to Marvin Allen by the District Grand Lodge No. 22, B'nai B'rith in recognition of his outstanding services and devotion of the ideals and principles of B'nai B'rith. Dated March 31, 1965.
Administrative History
Marvin Allen (1931-1995) was born 15 Jan. 1931 to Percy and Anne Appelbaum. As a child he attended the Palmerston Ave. school and Harbord Collegiate. He then took his chartered accountancy exam though Queen's Univeristy. In 1952, he married Bertha Allen and had four children: Marlee (Petroff), Laurel (Sandler), Kelvin and Jordan. Marvin was introduced to the YMHA society through his friends. He was also a member of Beth Tikvah Synagogue. Marvin died on 5 Feb. 1995 at the age of 64.

Scope and Content
This accession consists of fifty-one photographs and negatives depicting various members of the Rosenberg family and the North Bay Jewish community. The images include Hanukkah and Father's Day celebrations at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue, a Lag B'Omer picnic, Joe Rosenberg inside his menswear store, and a community parade in North Bay.
Identified individuals in the photographs include: Leah Brown, Abe Brown, Philip Cait, Fae Cait, Morley Daiter, Chaim Edery, Amalia Edery, Harry Freeman, Adele Freeman, Sam Heisler, Rae Heisler, Ben Herman, Sonny Herman, Marv Himmel, Shirley Hockman, Marvin Hockman, Rose Hoffman, Joe Hoffman, Bill Klieman, Arnie Maizen, Evelyn Maizen, Alex Metz, Jean Metz, Jean Noek, Peggy Pachner, John Pachner, Harry Reiss, Nathan Rivelis, Ida Rivelis, Brooky Robins, Mr. and Mrs. Allen and Beverley Rosenberg, Gordon Rosenberg, Joe Rosenberg, Pearl Rosenberg, Marcia Rosenberg, Eleanor Sherman, Sam Sherman, Eckie Weisman, and Millie Weisman.
Administrative History
Allen Rosenberg was born in North Bay in 1930. His grandfather Moishe Rosenberg was from Russia and was the first to arrive in 1910. He opened a convenience store and pool hall in town. His grandmother Esther (nee Brown) followed soon after. HIs father Joe was married to Pearl Brown, who grew up in North Bay. Joe owned a successful men's and boys' wear store. Allen and his wife Beverly eventually moved to Toronto.

Scope and Content
Accession consists of one item in the form of a glass thermometer with the image of a woman in a long dress on the front holding a bouquet of flowers. The item has the name of the company, Stitsky Importing Company and Textile Centre, on the bottom of the artifact. It was likely used for promotional purposes.
Administrative History
Stitstky Importing Company specialized in silks, woolens and linings and was located at 358 Spadina Ave. Their Textile Centre, in turn, was located at 816 Bathurst St.
Descriptive Notes
This item was likely produced in the late 1940s or early 1950s, based on the strapless gown the woman is wearing in the image.

Admin History/Bio
Fred Allen (1894-1956) was a well-known comedian who starred in productions on Broadway, radio, television and film. His credits include the Broadway shows "The Passing Show of 1922" and "The Greenwich Village Follies", the television show "Judge for Yourself" and the films "Thanks a Million" and "Love Thy Neighbor". He also produced, wrote, and starred in the radio program "The Fred Allen Show" from 1939 to 1949.
Scope and Content
This file consists of an original annotated radio script written by an unknown author for Fred Allen, as well as a fake commercial about bagels. The script is a dialogue between Fred, a man named Kenny and another person named Portland, which may be a reference to Fred Allen's wife, Portland Hoffa.

Biography
Bertha Allen (née Herbert) was married to Herbert Allen. Herbert, his brothers, Jule and J. J., and his brother-in-law, Louis Rosenfeld were pioneers in the motion picture industry in Canada. They opened a chain of theatres across Canada in the 1910s and 1920s. In Toronto, they built several theatres including the Tivoli Theatre, Bloor Theatre, College Theatre, Parkdale Theatre, Beach Theatre, St. Clair Theatre, Danforth Theatre and Hollywood Theatre.

This file contains Betty Lindgren's personal correspondence from between 1911 and 1938. A large portion of the letters are from Betty's mother (Sarah Goldstick), and her niece Ellen (Honey) Dworkin, but among them are letters from Betty's sisters Ellen Lurie (and daughter Mae), Jean Slone, Dora (Dorothy) Dworkin and Annie Constam. The file includes notes of condolence from when Betty's father Wolf Goldstick passed away in 1923, and dental x-rays made in 1925. The correspondence has been arranged in chronological order. The first folder covers 1911 to 1924, and the second covers 1925 to 1938, and includes undated correspondence.

File consists of correspondence relating to the formal presentation of release certificates awarded to displaced persons upon completion of their one-year employment contract. Included is a letter requesting the presence of A. MacNamara, Deputy Minister of Labour at the presentation ceremony, a letter to W.W. Dawson, of Immigration and Farm placements regarding the distribution of certificates, and an article from the Montreal Gazette describing the highly successful presentation ceremony.
