The oral history program was one part of the archives program. The interviewers were Molly Willer, Gay Lokash and Frances Gotkin, volunteers working under the direction of the Jewish Community Centre Archives Committee.
Scope and Content
This sub-series consists of twelve oral histories of various past and present members of the Y.M.-Y.W.H.A. in Toronto and the signed release forms. The interviewees include Judge Joe Addison, Harvey Blackstein, Lou Borsook, Bert Godfrey, Mrs. Sara Godfrey, Stan Kivy, Jack Oelbaum, Abe Posluns, Harry Pullen, Anne Roher, Max Swartz, Alex Winick and Lou Zimmerman. The interviewees discuss different aspects of their association with the "Y", including the history and structure of the organization, the various sports teams and clubs, social events and other reminiscences.
The recordings are in cassette format and are located in three separate file folders. The signed release forms are located in a fourth file folder.

This accession consists of one copy audio cassette of an oral history of Karen Stekel, conducted by Doris Manetta. Karen's husband Moe can be heard making comments at the end of the interview.
Custodial History
The donor has the original copy of the cassette. She allowed the OJA to copy the original and donated the copy to the Archives.
Administrative History
Karen Stekel is the granddaughter of the Samuels family, who had a farm in Pontypool before moving to Toronto. After moving, the family went into the toy manufacturing business and started Reliable Toys.

The National Council of Jewish Women of Canada made a number of efforts over the years to compile historical and archival collections.
Scope and Content
Series consists of news clippings, published histories, correspondence, scrapbooks, photographs, listings of presidents and other materials, which were gathered as part of the effort to document the NCJW's history. Records include a clippings scrapbook and photographs of prominant president Lucille Lorie, two published national histories, and photographs from a 1947 or 1954 presidential installation. There are also subject files generated by the various sections across Canada, which include section bulletins and publications, year books, photographs and newsclippings.

This accession consists primarily of materials created during an oral history project with seniors from the Hamilton Jewish community. This project was coordinated by Sylvia Klein initially through funding from a government Local Initiative Programme and then on a volunteer basis. Klein conducted this work under the guidance of Dr. Stephen Speisman, then Director of the Canadian Jewish Congress Central Region Archives. The records include oral histories on audio cassettes, transcripts, notes, reports, programmes, handbooks, and photographs.

Interviews were conducted by CHAT and CHAR grade 9 students with seniors about their memories growing up in Toronto, particularly in the Kensington Market area. Clips from many of the interviews were used in the film, Shtetl in the City, which was created by the Prosserman JCC. The photographs depict the seniors with the students who interviewed them.
Included are interviews with the following people: Bunny Bergstein, Jetta Bergstein, Aaron Nussbaum, Barry Muroff, Bea Muroff, Bernice Shuster, Bill Mondrow, Brenda (Brindle) Burkes, David Bisgould, Fran Shaul, Fred Goren, Gerald Ziedenberg, Gerry Ross, Gertrude Ludwig, Gloria Roden, Helen Marks, Irene Fritz, Janet Page, Marvin Givertz, Miriam Beckerman, Nina Rezmovitz, Norm Solomon, Pauline Goldberg, Pauline Ross, Rene Daiter, Ruth Cohen, Sandy Greenberg, and Sydney Moscoe.

The Wayne and Shuster Show was a half-hour radio program, which broadcast live on the CBC at 9:30pm on Thursday evenings. The show featured the comedy of Wayne and Shuster, along with co-stars Eric Christmas, Terry Dale, Herb May and several guest comedians. The show was produced by Jackie Rae and Samuel Hershenhoren provided the music. The radio program ran until 1954, when Johnny Wayne and Frank Shuster began to appear in hour-long specials on CBC television.
Scope and Content
This file consists of one script written for the Wayne and Shuster Show entitled The History of the Medical Profession, also referred to as The Doctor Show.
