- Scope and Content
- Sub-sub-series consists of records documenting the advocacy activities of the CRC in working for improved human and civil rights with Federal and Provincial governments regarding those freedoms which are, or should be, guaranteed to persons to ensure them non-interference from others, particularly power holders and legal authorities. Such civil liberties include; freedom from arbitrary arrest, or detention; freedom of speech; the right of lawful assembly; freedom of association and of movement; and the right not to incriminate oneself. Specific proposed (and enacted) legislation was to ensure equality of access to employment, education, and accommodation. As well, these files also document CRC advocacy activities to educate governments and society on the need for legislation to combat hate crimes and literature.
