- Scope and Content
- Accession consists of material documenting the life of Rabbi Tuvia Gutman Rapoport, including three photographs, a twenty-five-year anniversary booklet from Lublin, and a pamphlet titled "Religious Voice of Labor" from 1943. There are also photocopies of two ledger books. All of the textual records are in Yiddish, except for an English portion of the Voice of Labor booklet.
- Custodial History
- The material was donated by Rapoport's grandson, Dr. Abraham Rapoport. The photographs were duplicated and the the originals were returned to the donor.
- Administrative History
- Tuvia Gutman Rapoport came to Toronto from Poland between 1925 and 1928. He became a part-time, unpaid rabbi at the Apter Synagogue. He also worked as a shochet, a skill he learned in Poland on the advice of his son (the donor's father) before coming to Toronto. He died in 1955 at approximately 80 years of age.
