- Jacob and Anna (née Fogel) Singer immigrated to Toronto from Austria around 1873. He worked as a jeweler in the west end of Toronto. They had 13 children, all of whom were born in Canada. They included: Jennie (b. 1874), Moses (b. 1875), Solomon (b. 1877), Max (b. 1879), Isia (b. 1880), Helen (b. 1882), Alex (b. 1885), Aby (b. 1886), Isador (b. 1886), Freddy (b. 1889), Arthur (b. 1881), Fanny (b. 1896) and Abimalich (b. 1898).
