- Rabbi Slonim was born on 27 February 1914. He was married to Rita Short and they had one daughter named Rena. He was a rabbi and a journalist working for the McCaul St. Synagogue, Beth Tzedec and the Telegram in Toronto. Rabbi Slonim held positions at several other institutions outside of Canada. He also belonged to many Jewish organizations and was active within the community.
