- Scope and Content
- File consists of nine photographs from the departure of the 1970 UJA Study Mission to Israel. In the first photo, Nathan Silver and Lewis Moses pose with two other men "examining" a map of Israel. In photos taken at the airport in Toronto, Lewis Moses, Yetta Orfus, Morris Orfus, Oscar Shainhouse, Dr. Allan and Mirial Small, Albert Mandel, Albert Tobias, Saul Sigler, Yehuda Noy, and Phil Givens are identified. In one photo, two men weigh two women on the baggage scales at Malton Airport in Toronto; the back of the photo identifies Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rose and Berta and Joe Lunenfeld. Possible caption options scrawled on the back of the photo read, "Fun with their wives," and "A weighty problem." The 1970 mission occurred in 1969. The last photo depicts a UJA mission group arriving in Israel; Sol Granek and H. Wayne Tanenbaum (4th from right) are identified in the accompanying descriptive notes, and on the back of the photo "Wayne Tanenbaum's 1970 Mission" is written.
