- The file consists of general correspondence from the year 1957. Included is personal correspondence and correspondence/literature pertaining to Katz's involvement with various Zionistic, religious and philanthropic organizations. Included are letters acknowledging Katz's philanthropic efforts and monetary contributions; several thank-you and New Year's greeting cards; a copy of a programme to mark the Dedication Ceremonies of the New Talmud Torah Building; several letters in Yiddish; an invitation to The Charter Membership Dinner honouring Moshe Shapiro, Minister of Religion and Social Welfare, State of Israel; notice of a meeting for Members of the Board of Education for Associated Hebrew Schools of Toronto; 2 invitations to a testimonial dinner honouring Mark A. Levy, Chairman, State of Israel Bonds and attended by Abba Eban, Ambassador of Israel to United Nations; a letter appointing Katz to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the Jewish Public Library; a notice to publicize a mass-meeting to commemorate the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising; a letter from Jewish Immigrant Aid Services of Canada requesting donations on behalf of reception and settlement of Hungarian, North African, Polish and Egyptian Jews; a letter to Katz inviting him to serve as a Sponsor for a Testimonial Dinner to honour Mark Levy, Chairman of State of Israel Bonds; letters from the United Jewish Welfare Fund of Toronto notifying of meetings; a letter in Yiddish from M. Ginsburg, journalist; a hand-written letter in Yiddish by Katz; a letter informing Katz that he has been selected to serve on the Board of Directors of Toronto Hebrew Free Loan Society ; a letter from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel concerning Yeshivath "Bnei Akivah" Nechalim with 2 unidentified photos and excerpts from a publication. Also included are several letters from the Jewish National Fund concerning the registration of a "Nachla" by Katz. Personal details and a biographic note were submitted for the purpose of the Nachla Scroll.
