- This accession consists of scanned copies of original documents and photographs depicting the Jewish community of North Bay and the Brown family. The records relate to various individuals in the community, including the donor, as well as the Sons of Jacob Congregation. The items include scans of photographs, correspondence, employment contracts with various spiritual leaders, newspaper clippings, and High Holiday lists.
- The compact disc contains a scan of the Synagogue's letters-patent from 1924. The original textual records include a copy of the Synagogues' constitution from the 1950s and a photocopy of a cartoon drawing depicting members of the North Bay B'nai Brith lodge.
- Custodial History
- The original records are in the possession of the donor. The OJA was granted permission to scan the records in August 2007, as part of the Ontario Small Jewish Communities initiative. These copies were then donated to the Archives on 2007-08-17.

The records include Sydney's flight log book from the Second World War, Hadassah-WIZO scholarship certificates and documents pertaining to the Sydney and Zave Brown endowment fund and an album containing a history of the Brown brothers and their military careers. The album features copies of various military documents and correspondence as well as copies of photographs.

- This accession consists of material documenting the donor's family, particularly her father, Nathan Rivelis. The items include a vest and hat worn by her father during the late 1950s as part of the Lion's Club. It also consists of an oral history of her father conducted in 1983; his school primer and English reader; photographs of the business and Hebrew classes; certificates; and, finally, newspaper clippings.
- Administrative History
- The Rivelis family owned a large clothing store in North Bay from 1926 until 1986 called Rivelis. They sold men's and women's mid-range clothing and became famous in town for their annual sale held on 16 November. The business grew from a small family-run store to a large department store with twelve employees.
- In addition to running the business, Nate Rivelis was also involved in the local Lion's Club and was the president of this organization from 1957-1958. He was the only Jewish member at that time. In addition, he also served as the president of the Hebrew school during the 1940s.

- File consists of photographs documenting Saul Cowan's career as a trustee and then as chairman of the North York Board of Education. Included are group photos of the board and trustees, participants at inaugural meetings and at an Advisory Vocational Dinner. There are also images of Saul's installation as chairman, his visits to a community day care centre and an elementary schools' art exhibit in a library, and the sod turning ceremony for the Education Administrative Centre at 5050 Yonge Street (1969). In addition, there are photographs taken at the openings of Newtonbrook Secondary School, Stanford Fleming Secondary School, and Herron Valley Junior High School. Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson is seen in the Newtonbrook pictures.

Pictured is a Hanukkah concert by a group of North African youth, general meetings; Moroccan immigrants arriving at the Montreal airport; other immigrants being greeted at the airport; new arrivals clearing through Immigration; a language class; a group of children at a seder; a rummage sale; and a Hanukkah dance held for North African (Moroccan?) immigrants.

- This file contains two photographs of Yeshivah Torath Chaim's premises on College Street, which they had from around 1947 to 1959. One of these photographs is a Turofsky.
- This file also contains four colour photographs taken at a formal function. Two are family photos, one is a photo of an unidentified man, and the fourth is of another man with his wife walking down an aisle.
- The seventh photograph shows two unidentified men sitting at a poolside.
- The last photograph shows Rabbi Abraham A. Price addressing a group of people. A panel of men sits behind him. It appears as though this is taking place in a synagogue.

- Scope and Content
- Photographs document John Glass' participation in military, political, and Jewish community organizations through the years. Those activities include serving overseas in the First World War, sailing to France to attend the Vimy Ridge Memorial Pilgrimage in 1936, and attending a reunion of the Osgoode Hall law class of 1919 and former Toronto City Council members. Jewish community events for organizations such as Israel Bonds meetings and Ambassador's Balls, B'Nai Brith, Canadian Hadassah, and the Jewish branch of the Canadian Legion are depicted.
- There are panoramic views of large events hosted by the Canadian Jewish Congress, the Zionist Council, and the Jewish Branch of the Canadian Legion BESL (British Empire Service League).
- Of note is an autographed portrait of Vladimir Jabotinski that was given to Glass on the occassion of Jabotinsky's 1926 speaking engagement in Toronto. Also of note is a photograph taken by a Toronto Star photographer that shows Canon Cody, president of the University of Toronto; Dr. Chaim Weitzman; Arthur Roebuck, minister of labour; John Glass; and Peter Keenan, minister of lands and forests.
