The store currently in use as a broadloom store, was the Kaplan brothers' original general store. The Royal Bank building was built by the Kaplans and the adjacent building housed Bill Jacks and his family. Jacks was the Kirkland Lake Chazan and unofficial Rabbi. He was also a furrier by trade.
