Accession consists of material documenting United Israel Appeal of Canada. Included are photographs of various sites in Israel (many under construction), including: Kibbutz Yuron, a student centre in memory of Norman Ratner located in the Old City of Jerusalem, the Arthur Fuchs Youth Centre located in Kiryat Shmona, the Leo Baeck School, the Boxer Sports Hall located in Yesud HaMa'ala, and a kindergarten in Gderot Nahanya Hospital. In addition to these photographs, there is a small amount of correspondence and several newspaper clippings.

Admin History/Bio
Joseph Tanenbaum was born on September 25, 1906 in Poland to parents Chippa Sarah and Abraham. The family moved to Canada. Joe became a bridge builder and industrialist, eventually taking over the family business--Runnymede Steel Construction. Two of the company's major accomplishments were the Burlington Skywayand and the Hamer Bridge in St. Catharines. He was a founder of the YW-YMHA, director of Israeli Bonds, an active member of UJA, B'nai Brith, New Mount Sinai, Jewish Home for the Aged and Baycrest Hospital, Canadian Friends of Yeshiva University, Ner Israel Rabbinical College and Talmud Torah.
Scope and Content
File consists of photographs documenting what may be an UJA Mission to Israel. Included are images of Phil Givens inspecting tanks, touring facilities, visiting border regions, and trying on military apparel. Also identified in the photographs are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tanenbaum.

Scope and Content
File consists of image of Israel Histadrut's participation in the 1959 telethon for the United Jewish Appeal campaign. The images were taken at 12 Viewmount Avenue and include a group photograph of the members seated at tables, an image of members picking up donor sheets from a table with a "Day Call" box sitting on it, and an image of two members pointing at a map of Toronto placed on a table next to campaign literature.

The images depict the Jewish Home receiving a cheque from the United Jewish Appeal, and members of the Appeal addressing the residents of the Jewish Home in the auditorium.

Scope and Content
File consists of records documenting J. B. Salsberg's involvement in the UJA Federation. Included are UJA Day event programmes, Executive Committee meeting minutes, correspondence, a Holocaust Remembrance Committee report, a schedule of budgets, a 1988 campaign plan, and a Board of Jewish Education memo. Also included is a UJA medallion and Ben Sadowski Award of Merit that were given to J. B. Salsberg.
