- Toronto Section's executive historically incorporated five or six vice-presidents, each in charge of a portfolio made up of a group of related committees. The service portfolio has been a cornerstone of Toronto Section throughout its existence. This portfolio's early progressive programs included the Jewish Girls' Club and Camp Camperdown, and later evolved into a blood donor drive, ESL programs, nursery, and aid to seniors and the disabled. In the 1960s they began to operate as a clearing-house for Jewish commmunity volunteers.

He was the Ontario Jewish National Fund Chairman and was actively involved in several other Jewish organizations. - Ed Gelber, a communal leader, was born on 16 November 1903. He married Anna David and they had three children named Edna, Lynn and David. Gelber was educated as a lawyer and Rabbi, but worked mostly within Jewish organizations as an upper administrator. He was the past president for the Zionist Council of Canada, the Hebrew Schools of Toronto, and the Toronto Jewish Welfare Fund. He also held high posts at several other Jewish organizations and devoted his time and energy volunteering for the Jewish community and the cause of Israel. Ed Gelber eventually relocated to Israel.

- Allan Grossman was born in 1910 to Morris and Sarah Grossman. He married Ethel Starkman and they had three children named Denyse, Larry and Susan. Allan Grossman was president of the Allan Grossman Insurance Services Ltd. He was involved in political life in Canada holding positions as Alderman, Council member for Metro Toronto, elected member of Ontario Legislature, and in 1960 he was appointed Minister without portfolio. He was re-appointed to Provincial Cabinet as Chairman of the Ontario Liquor Control Board.

- D. Lou Harris was born in Birmingham, England in 1897 to Esther and Harry Harris. He came to Canada in 1911 and married Eva Feldstein; they had two children named Molly and Charlotte. Harris worked as an industrialist and founded Atlas Radio Corporation in 1920. He was president of Holy Blossom Temple and national chairman for the Bonds of Israel.

- Photograph is of D. Lou Harris giving a speech at the 1956 Negev dinner held in honour of the Toronto Jewish community on the anniversary of its centennial. Harris was chairman for the dinner.
