Sol Edell had a large family and a large circle of friends and aquaintenances. Consequently, he was invited to many circumcisions, weddings and bar and bat mitzvahs. He also set up several memorial funds in memory of his sister and wives.There are also documents in this sub-series that relate to family members.
Scope and Content
Sub-series consists of correspondence, receipts, diplomas, photographs and films documenting various family celebrations, vacations and home life. There is a selection of invitations, cards and benchers sent by the Edell, Weinstock and Hoffman families as well as ones that they received from family and friends. In addition, there are newspaper clippings and notices of the deaths of Edell family members and friends as well as correspondence and receipts relating to memorial funds set up in their memory. The sub-series also contains films of family and friends taken at home, on vacation and at family celebrations.

File consists of records documenting the recognition and awards presented either to or by Brantford's Jewish community. Included is one newsclipping, a photograph of what is likely a plaque in Israel honouring the community for opening their homes to foreign airmen during the Second World War, one Karen Hayesod plaque, one key presented to Bertha Finkelstein by Congregation Beth David, one provincial Community Service Award earned by Congregation member Annette Sherman, Israel Histadut Campaign certificates and Jewish National Fund certificates.

This file consists of two photographs taken at the YM-YWHA athletic awards banquet at the Bloor and Spadina "Y". The banquet was held in 1958 to honour the "Y" members for their athletic achievements during 1957. One is a group shot of Club Panama around a table of trophies, and one is of a young man accepting a trophy at the podium. "Hughie in his youth" is written on the verso.
Individuals identified in the group photo include Brian Bender (club supervisor), Barry Feldberg, Joe Swartz, Shelley Bender, Arnold Linetslay, Alex [?] and Malcolm Laderman.
