- Originally named the Cosmopolitan Club, the Primrose Club was as an elite Jewish men's club (women were allowed to join in later years) that was founded in 1909 by prominent members of the Jewish Community. The building housing the club was located at 41 Willcocks Street, and was originally built in the 1880s as the residence of the Campbell family. In 1921, the home was redesigned by Benjamin Brown and Robert McConnell as the new home of the Primrose Club. In 1959, it was appropriated by the University of Toronto and is currently the home of the University of Toronto Faculty Club. It was designated as a heritage building in 1980.

- Accession consists of records documenting the operations, programs and events of the Lions Club of Forest Hill. Non-textual records include photographs, a VHS tape of the closing affair memorial service (June 1996), a floppy disk, Club vests with pins and metal badges. The textual records include newsletters, correspondence, brochures, member lists, certificates of duty, organizational charts, receipts, meeting minutes and agendas. Textual records also include announcements and financial records from charity and fundraising events put on by the Lions Club and a book titled, "The Toronto Lion" about different club histories in Toronto.

- Accession consists of personal documents and correspondence pertaining to the lives of Claire and Paul Wertheimer.The documents are in German, Latin and French as well as English. Included are Austrian birth and marriage certificates for both, Paul's school transcript (Wein, Austria 1920-23), letters confirming his attendance at the University of Wein (1931-33), as well as employment references (France 1938, 1945). In addition there are United States Naturalization certificates for Paul and Claire (1957) and correspondence from relatives concerning the Hebrew and English inscriptions on the Wertheimers' headstones in Pardes Shalom Cemetery in Maple, Ontario.
- Administrative History
- Claire was born in 1903 in Czernovicz, Austria. Paul was born in 1903 in Wein, Austria. They were married in 1926 in Wein. Documents indicate that they lived in France in the late 1930s and were in the United States by the early 1950s.They died within a day of each other in 1983 and are buried north of Toronto, Ontario.

- The Herzl Zion Club of Toronto was organized in 1910 by John Shayne, as a Jewish boys fraternal club. Members of the club engaged in athletic activates, minstrel shows, debates and lecture series and other cultural activities such as dances and theatrical productions. They were famous for their staged follies at the Loew's Winter Garden Theatre on Yonge Street.
- The Club originally met on Sundays at the Zionist Institute, until they purchased their own clubhouse at 210 Beverley Street after the First World War. By the end of the 1920s, as many of the boys entered the professions and got married, the club experienced a waning in membership and was eventually forced to disband.
- In May 1943, a reunion was organized by former members Jack Samuel and Nat Gollom. The following year the club re-formed, but this time with a greater emphasis placed on fundraising, specifically for the Combined Palestine Appeal (later the United Jewish Appeal) and the Hebrew University. The Club also began publishing an internal newsletter entitled the Herzl Zion Digest. They later affiliated with the Zionist Organization of Canada, Central Region, and often sent delegates to ZOC conferences.
- Scope and Content
- Sub-series consists of negatives documenting the events and activities of the Herzl Zion Club of Toronto. The images depict members at installation banquets and officers' meetings, bowling league events, and various campaign fundraisers. The negatives have been arranged chronologically by event and are described at the file or item level.

- Item is a photograph of a group of young men who were members of Hakoah Vienna, an all Jewish social-athletic sports club. On the reverse of the photograph are signatures of the famous sports club and a German inscription "In memmory of the cameraderie of the sport club Hakoah". Signatures identified include: Max Scheuer; [Béla Guttmann?]; [Schwartzbein?]; Joseph Stross.

- History: According to Wikipedia article Hakoah Vienna, "Hakoah", Hebrew for strength, is the name of a Jewish sports club established in Vienna in ca. 1909 and and closed by the Nazis in [1938 or 1941]. In 1945, the club re-formed its football team only, which disbanded in 1949.
