Accession consists of 5 photographs, a letter from Joan Sutton to Frank Laurie speaking about Nat Laurie's positive influence on her life and newsclippings. The photographs include a panoramic of a Dress Manufacturers Guild banquet (194-) featuring Nat Laurie at the head table in front of the microphone. Also identified are Sam, Abe and Joseph Posluns. Other photographs include images of Emma Laurie with daughter Marilyn and Emma's much younger half-sister Annie Pion Steinberg, a portrait of Emma Steinberg (ca. 1934) and one of Nat and Emma around the time of their wedding (ca. 1937) as well as a group photo of Marilyn Laurie at Camp Arowhon (ca. 1949-1950). Also identified in this photograph is Ruthie Silver.
Administrative History
Nathan (Nat) Laurie (ca. 1904-1958) was born around 1904 in Montreal, Quebec. He married Emma (nee Steinberg) (1914-1997) around 1937 after a brief courtship. Together they had one son, Frank and one daughter, Marilyn (m. Baker). Nat owned Nat Laurie Dresses at Spadina Avenue and Richmond Street in Toronto and was president of the Dress Manufacturers Guild. Notably, he was in charge of fabric allocations during the Second World War and provided a dress to the winner of the Miss Toronto pageant. In 1951, he opened the Zanzibar night club on Yonge Street as a live blues and jazz club. Nat died in 1958.

Scope and Content
Accession consists of material documenting the family of Helen Marks. Included are two wedding three school photographs, school photographs, personal identity documents, a certificate of naturalization, a letter, a program for a gala evening, and a un untranslated document.
The first wedding photograph was taken at the wedding of Rose Miltz and Nathan Weisblatt on 29 December 1935. Rose and Nathan were part of Helen's father's family.
The second wedding photograph was taken at the wedding of Rose Nimon and Isadore Weisblatt. Rose and Nimon were Helen's parents.
Two school photographs were taken at John Fisher School in the 1930s. Helen attended the school from kindergarten until grade eight.
A third school photograph was taken at North Toronto Collegiate sometime around Christmas 1939. Helen attended the school for one year from 1939 to 1940.
There are several identity documents for Helen's father-in-law, Morris Marks. The first such document is a Romanian passport dated 24 May 1908. The second such document is a deed poll testifying to Morris' change of name dated 23 January 1933. The third document is a document certifying that the latter is a true copy.
The certificate of naturalization is for Harry Schnall. Helen believes Harry was her mother-in-law's father but is not positive.
The letter is from Max Niman and Moishe Fishbaum and is dated 15 August 1985. The letter regards the amalgamation of the Ostrovtzer Congregation and the Shaarei Tefillah Congregation. Helen's mother's family were founders of the congregation.
The program is for a gala evening presented by the Chinese community for the Mount Sinai Hospital Research Centre expansion, which was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on 22 June 1985.
Finally, there is a document in what appears to be Romanian but which has not been translated.

Accession consists of material documenting Mark Drutz's personal life; educational and professional experience; and his active engagement with Ha Mishpacha, which is one of the earliest gay-Jewish groups in Toronto and was co-founded by him. Included are: sixty-four photographs depicting Mark's personal life; newspaper and magazine clippings documenting the announcement of Mark's birth in 1951, an introduction to Ha Mishpacha (4 Nov. 1977), the assistance that Mark and his mother, Evelyn Quitt, provided for the Preyra family's immigration from India to Canada (1968, 1972, 1996), and Mark's support to the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (2014). The accession also includes three yearbooks, two school photographs, certificates, diplomas, and academic records, which document his educational experience; and letters of recommendation, CV, and other documents related to his career and professional activities. Also included are: a newsletter of Ha Mishpacha (Nov. 1977), a divorce certificate of Mark's parents (8 Feb. 1972), and a certifiate of change of his name (28 Mar. 1978).
Administrative History
Mark Drutz is the youngest child of Harold "Hy" Drutz and Evelyn Sandra Drutz (née Quitt). Harold (1913–1998) was born to Phillip (Fyvish) and Annie Drutz of Russia. In 1946, he married Evelyn Quitt (1924–1999), the daughter of Samuel Quitt (1891–?) and Bertha Quitt (1890–1953), also of Russia. They had two children: Paul, who ultimately succumbed to AIDS (1947–1994) and Mark (aka Donald, 1951–). 'Evelyn raised Paul's son, her grandson Ezra Matthew (1975–).
Harold worked in the garment trade as a pattern cutter and also served in the Canadian Medical Corps during the Second World War. He was one of seven children. His siblings were: Meyer, Daniel, Harry (Drue), David, Pauline, and Mollie (Simmons). Evelyn was one of five chidren. Her siblings were: Estelle (Drue - married Harold's brother Harry), Rivka (Smolkin), Gordon (Gerhson), and Beverley (Brown).

Accession includes three portraits from the 1920s that were sent to Helen Mark's mother as postcards. The majority of the records document David Mark's career as UJA Campaign Director and consist of: photographs, correspondence, invitations, UJA mission records, clippings as well as other material.

The records were donated by Helen Marks and were kept at their home.
Administrative History
David Marks was born in Toronto and was the youngest of three brothers. He moved to Hamilton after marrying his wife Helen during the 1950s and opened up a shoe store. They had two children together, Irving and Anita. After eight years, they returned to Toronto. In 1962, he accepted a position as manager of shelter workshops for Jewish Vocational Services (JVS). He then started working for UJA and in 1968 became its campaign director. He served in that capacity for fourteen years. During that time, he helped raise millions of dollars through the campaign and lead some of the earliest UJA missions to Israel. He travelled to Israel more than thirty times and organized the visits of Israeli leaders to Toronto including David Ben-Gurion, Golda Meier, Menachem Begin, Moshe Dayan, and others.
In 1982, he left his position as campaign director and became the director of development at Mount Sinai Hospital. He then opened up a consulting business with three other community professionals, which provided help to other organizations with their fundraising efforts.
In 2004, David passed away after battling cancer. He left behind his wife, two children and four grandchildren.

Accession consists of scanned copies of original records documenting the Jewish community in Cornwall. The records relate to various individuals in the community, including the donor, as well as organizations such as B'nai Brith, Hebrew Ladies' Aid Society, and the Beth-El Congregation. The accession consists of records related to the work of David Marks. There are a number of programs, including ones for Annual Campaign, a Jewish National Fund of Toronto Negev Dinner Tribute, and Mount Sinai Hospital Auxiliary's 34th Annual Gala Ball. Additionally, there is an itinerary for a 1972 study mission to Israel and an invitation to meeting welcoming Prime Minister Golda Meir in 1970.
Two of the photographs document David Marks meeting Golda Meir in 1971 and 1974. The third photograph is a group shot, likely of a study mission, in front of an airplane at Lod Airport in Israel.

Scope and Content
Accession consists of material documenting David Marks. Included are photographs and correspondence, as well as three UJA Walk with Israel pins. Identified in the photographs are Golda Meier, Menachem Begin, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, and others.
Administrative History
David Marks was born in Toronto and was the youngest of three brothers. He moved to Hamilton after marrying his wife Helen during the 1950s and opened up a shoe store. They had two children together, Irving and Anita. After eight years, they returned to Toronto. In 1962, he accepted a position as manager of shelter workshops for Jewish Vocational Services (JVS). He then started working for UJA and in 1968 became its campaign director. He served in that capacity for fourteen years. During that time, he helped raise millions of dollars through the campaign and lead some of the earliest UJA missions to Israel. He travelled to Israel more than thirty times and organized the visits of Israeli leaders to Toronto including David Ben-Gurion, Golda Meier, Menachem Begin, Moshe Dayan, and others.
In 1982, he left his position as campaign director and became the director of development at Mount Sinai Hospital. He then opened up a consulting business with three other community professionals, which provided help to other organizations with their fundraising efforts.
In 2004, David passed away after battling cancer. He left behind his wife, two children and four grandchildren.

Accession consists of material documenting the family of Nancy Levy. Included are a biography of the orphan Meir Noss, which was translated from the Yiddish in 1921, and a copy of an undated clipping about the donor's mother, who was the only attendant at her friend Jean Kamarner's wedding. The first item describes events in Z'vil, Ukraine that took place in 1919/1920.

Accession consists of material documenting Nancy Levy, primarily education records, such as citizenship awards and scholarship awards issued by the Board of Education for the City of Hamilton, Ontario. It also consists of certificates and patches issued by the Canadian Red Cross Society and the Royal Life Saving Society of Canada while at Camp Kadimah and Hamilton's Recreation Centre as well a photograph of a Temple Anshe Sholom confirmation class taken in 1967. Identified in the photograph are: (back row) Michael Epstein, Paul Simon, Leslie Mitchinick, Rabbi Baskin, Michael Isaac, Robert Mitchnick, Harold Barnett, Brian Singer, (front row) Cheryl Hebscher, Sharon Leutcher, Robin Raphael, Gerrie Perrell, Nancy Levy, Jacqueline Houston, Elaine Hotz, Ethel Landrecht, and Debbie Minden.
Administrative History
Nancy Levy was born in 1951 to Corinne (née Cohn) and Edgar Levy. (Corinne and Edgar's name was originally Moshe Noss. He was born in the Ukraine and orphaned at an early age. Around 1921 he immigrated to Canada through the help of a Mr. Grafstein. Once in Canada, Edgar and his brothers were adopted into different families. The Levy family adopted Edgar and he took their name.
Edgar married Corrine Cohn in 1946. Edgar had a business in Hamilton called Piston Service, which was a wholesaler for car parts. Corrine drove a truck for this business and eventually became the bookkeeper for another firm. After marriage, they lived in Hamilton at 18 West Third.
Nancy had two younger siblings: Ann (1956–) and Lois (1958–2018). She married Wayne Greenberg in 1979 and they divorced around 1985. She studied medical lab technology at a community college and worked at various hospitals and businesses, including Henderson Hospital in Hamilton and Baycrest.

Accession consists of home movies documenting the Levy family of Hamilton, Ontario. Included is footage of birthday parties, children playing at their home and in parks, swimming, sailing, a football game at Ivor Wynne Stadium, a trip to Algonquin Park, family picnics, and trips to Quebec and New York.

Administrative History
The Noss family traces its origins to Russia/Ukraine. The patriarch, Avraham Noss, died after contracting typhus after being badly beaten in a pogrom. His wife, Toiba, died of either cholera, typhus, or influenza (accounts vary). They left behind four children: Raisa, Meyer, Joseph, and Moshe. The extended family took care of the four orphans but did not have enough food to feed them, so the three youngest were put in a Jewish orphanage. The eldest, Raisa, was too old but came every day to visit her brothers. One day, she arrived only to be told, "The missionaries took them away." The entire orphanage was brought to Canada. A Mr. Hershman from Toronto was involved as was a congregation of Christadelphians from Hamilton including a Mr. Farrar who owned a good-quality clothing store.
Raisa remained in Russia, where she received an education from the Communist Party and became an engineer. Meyer kept in touch with his sister for as long as possible, but the two eventually lost touch.
The Drazin family took in Meyer, the eldest brother, although the family never adopted him. Despite this, he changed his name to Drazin. Joseph ("Joe") was adopted but was returned to Children's Aid, where he went from foster home to foster home. He eventually took back the Noss family name. As for Moshe, he was adopted by Moses Levy and Marietta Steinert. Moshe's new parents changed his name to Edgar Steinert Levy. Edgar Levy is thus the same individual as Moshe Noss. Marietta was well-known in the Hamilton community, and a chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women was named after her.

Accompanying material: After donating the records in her possession, the donor emailed the archivist a document titled "Noss Family Story," which the archivist used to compose the biographical sketch. The document has been saved with other supporting documentation.
