- Mr. Abraham M. Schiffer and Mr. William Leibel were the co-owners of Empire Clothing Co. and Cornell Tailored Clothing Ltd. The Empire Clothing Company Building served as the headquarters for both businesses. The Empire Clothing Company manufactured men's clothing and sold it wholesale. Leibel and Schiffer were also close neighbours, living only a few houses apart. William Leibel was a prominent member of the Toronto Jewish community. He was involved in many philanthropic and charitable activities and was active in many Jewish organizations, particularly in the area of Jewish education.

- File consists of architectural drawings for additions and alterations to the office headquarters of the Empire Clothing Company at 197/199 Spadina Avenue. Elevations, detailing, sections, floor plans and a roof plan are included. Also included are the drawings for the original factory, completed by Brown in 1923.
- Notes
- Due to the fragility of these drawings, the description and extent are partially based on Speisman's earlier item level descriptions. The drawings are contained in two rolls.

- File consists of architectural drawings of additions and alterations to two stores located in a single storey Annex to the Balfour Building, at 125 Spadina Avenue. One of the stores was Shiffer-Hillman Men's Clothing Manufacturing, owned by Elsig Shiffer and Benjamin Hillman. The other store was the Blue Bird Dress Company, owned by Mr. Sam Lichtman. Floor plans, elevations, a block plan, a foundation plan, and a sketch of the storefront are also included.

- File consists of legal documents pertaining to the sale of the property comprising lots 6-9 on the east side of Spadina: Plan D-254, also known as 651 Spadina, from the Central Council of the Girls' Friendly Society to the Toronto Zionist Council. There is a 1928 declaration of Arthur Carlson McMaster stating his claim to the property through his parents, and including a history of the property since 1883.
- Further declarations by Thrza Deverall and Mary Sparling, both of the Girls' Friendly Society, continue the history from the McMasters to the 1942 sale to the Zionist Council. A 1942 letters patent document reincorporates the Toronto Zionist Council as a corporation that can hold real estate etc.
- Correspondence between John Glass for the Zionists and lawyers for the sellers concern bank loans, insurance, and regulations for applications for building permits for renovations of the facility.

- File consists of documents pertaining to the sale of the property comprising lots 6-9 on the east side of Spadina Avenue, Plan D-254, also known as 651 Spadina and Townsend House.
- There is a handwritten document that includes a plan of the property and a chronological chain of ownership by way of mortgages and deeds from 1895-1929, through the McMaster family to the Central Council of the Girls Friendly Society in Canada. As well, there are legal documents such as offers to purchase, correspondence with lawyers and insurance companies' financial statements, mortgage matters, and an affadavit of incorporation of the Toronto Zionist Council in 1907. Due to the complexity of the sale, the Zionist Council applied for and was granted letters patent by the assistant provincial secretary in order to enlarge and clarify the organization's corporate powers.

- In the 1930s, the United Welfare Clothing Centre was established to provide clients of the Jewish Family Welfare Bureau, Jewish Big Sisters Committee, Jewish Big Brother Movement, and the JIAS Refugee Establishment Committee with clothing. The Centre’s finances and daily operations were managed by the JFWB’s Clothing Committee; however, other organizations also participated in its operation. For instance, the Rest Home Club collected, sorted and cleaned used clothing, and members of the Community Sewing Centre regularly made clothes for the Centre. The Centre was located at 55 Baldwin Street and likely stopped operating in the early 1940s due to a lack of funds and donations.

Included is correspondence, one blueprint, a building alteration proposal, reports, price lists, inventories, publicity articles and meeting notices, agendas and minutes.

- This accession consists of five photographs documenting the Niagara Rug Company of Niagara Falls, Ontario. The photos include a group image of the company's staff and owner Abe Bogomolny standing in front of the original building on Centre Street, an interior shot of the factory on Victoria Street featuring the looms, two photos of Abe and Hymie Bogomolny inspecting raw materials in the factory on Victoria Street, and a portrait of Abe Bogomolny. The accession also includes one copy of a Niagara Rug Co. promotional flyer.

- Sub-series consists of material relating to the construction of Adas Israel synagogue's new building at 125 Cline Ave. South. This includes publicity brochures and financial records about the building campaign and correspondence, programmes, and a film of the turning of the sod. As well there is correspondence, programmes, photographs and audio recordings of the laying of the cornerstone and dedication of the synagogue. There is also a key to the synagogue which was presented at the dedication ceremony.

The property, which had an existing log cabin thought to resemble an English Manor, along with Lord Balfour (architect of the Balfour Declaration that established Palestine as a home for Jewish people in 1917), served as inspiration for the camp name.

- In addition to activities such as swimming, tennis and horseback riding at Balfour Manor Camp, there were adventurous canoe tripping expeditions down the Severn River to destinations such as Port Carling, Gloucester Pool and Lake Huron. Above all, the camp was recognized for its arts program. At the end of each summer, campers would perform in lavish large-scale productions of musicals and operas. Parents and local cottagers were always invited to enjoy the end of summer performances. The camp closed in 1952.
