During the Second World War, Dunkelman served as a major in the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada. After enlisting in 1940, he became a platoon commander. Dunkelman took part in the second wave of D-Day landings in 1944 and later assisted in the final Allied assault on Germany, earning the Distinguished Service Order. He left the army in 1945 after the war had ended. The Queen's Own Rifles Association and the Canadian Society for the Weizmann Institute of Science organized a reception in 1976 to honour the publication of Dunkelman's autobiography, Dual Allegiance.

Series consists of records documenting Ben Dunkelman's involvement in the Second World War. Included are newspaper clippings, maps, photographs, and correspondence. Some files deal with Dunkelman's experiences during the war; others relate to Dunkelman's relationship with veterans after the war and, in one case, with his memories of the war. The files cover such subjects as The Queen's Own Rifles, Veterans, the liberation of The Netherlands, Aubrey Cosens (a soldier under Dunkelman’s command who was killed in battle but later honoured with the Victoria Cross), and the prosecution of Nazi war criminals.

Ralph Constam was the son of Annie Goldstick and Jake Constam. The parents were married in 1910 in Toronto. Ralph was born on 19 September 1912. He served overseas during the Second World War and married Annaca "Ann" Spero in Holland in 1945. They had a second wedding in Toronto in May 1946. Ann and Ralph had two children, Jacqui and Simon.

Included are images of Frankfurt and the Kassel's home, Henry with friends at Berlin University, Henry and his father swimming in a lake, and images of Henry in Italy. Although the majority of the images were taken prior to 1938, a few colour photographs of Italian landscapes are scattered throughout the last half of the album and were likely taken at a later date. Accession consists of material pertaining to the Second Encounter, an organization sponsored by Canadian Jewish Congress which held seminars on topics such as Judaism, religion and identity, antisemitism, and the Holocaust at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Included are registration forms, correspondence, publicity material, programme schedules and a newsletter entitled "Second Encounter".
Reta Freeman was born in Toronto on December 6, 1920 to Bessie (née Sugarman) and Israel Freeman.

File consists of a photograph album documenting the family and early life of Henry Cassel's wife, Reta (née Freeman). Included are images of the Sugarman and Freeman family at family homes and other places around Toronto, such as, the University of Toronto and Fisherman's Island (later Cherry Beach). Also included are Wellesley Street School class photographs, family portraits and images of family members ice skating, at camps, and in Montreal and Niagara Falls. Near the end of the album are a few images of Reta with Henry Cassel. Also identified in the photographs are Bessie Sugarman, Israel Freeman, Harry Sugarman, and Arthur (Art) Sugarman.
File consists of a photograph album with pictures of Michael and Trudy Cowan as babies and young children with their parents, grandparents, and other relatives. Many were taken at the family resort Wapaska Lodge. Identification is provided on stick-it notes.

File consists of one photo album documenting the Harris and Geldzaeler families. Included are a variety of images documenting the extended families of Samuel Aaron and Rose Harris (née Geldzaeler). Many of the images are snapshots of family members, vacation and leisure outing photographs of places such as Bobcaygeon, Niagara Falls, and Hanlan's Point.
File consists of an article by Eric Margolis in the Toronto Sun dated 16 February 1989. The article refers to Ben Dunkelman's refusal to drive the Arab population out of Nazareth after his conquest of Nazareth during Operation Dekel in 1948.
Item is a silver coin with a loop at the top for the ribbon to attach the coin to the pin. On one side of the coin is a profile of King George V with the following writing around the circumference: "GEORGIVS V BRITT. OMN REX ET IND. IMP." On the coin's other side, there is an image of a man on a horse with the years 1914-1918 above him.
The file consists of photographs of the 2nd anniversary celebrations for the State of Israel. this celebration happened at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Included in the photographs are Edward Gelber; Robert Soren; and Sam Zacks.
