- After leaving Ostrowiec, Génia Ways (née Bojarski) and her husband lived in Strasbourg, France, for over twenty years. They had two daughters, Sonia and Blanche. When her husband died at the start of the Second World War, Génia and her daughters fled Strasbourg, eventually making their way to Périgueux, France. Sonia and Blanche were both involved in the French Resistance during the war. They continued to live in Périgueux until at least mid-1946.
- Scope and Content
- File consists of a letter written by Génia Ways in Périgueux, France, to the Fareinikter Ostrovcer Hilfs Comitet, dated 7 July 1946. In this letter, Génia expresses her gratitude for the package of food received from the commitee. She writes about her life before the war and her husband. Génia details the challenges her family faced during the war and highlights her daughters' involvement in the French Resistance. An envelope with multiple stamps and postmarks in included. File also contains a typed translation.
