Scope and Content
Accession consists of 8 mm home movie films documenting the Goldenberg family of Toronto. Included is footage of Neil Goldenberg's bar mitzvah at Clanton Park Synagogue (13 Feb. 1965), various family trips to Florida, California and other cities, the family at a Conklin fair, family gatherings at home, and the family at the Toronto Islands. Also included is every day footage of the family around their house, including shots of the children tobogganing, skating and playing hockey in the winter.

Accession consists of 5 films documenting United Jewish Appeal (UJA) study missions to Israel in 1958, 1959, 1960, 1968 and 1969. A notation on the 1960 study mission reel indicates that there is also material related to Alvin Rosenberg. Two of the reels have notations indicating possible YMHA material as well. The sole 8 mm film dates from approximately 1957 and features the UJA offices at 150 and 152 Beverley Street, the Jewish Home for the Aged and Baycrest Hospital, the YMHA at Bloor and Spadina, Associated Hebrew Schools on Neptune, and Camp Fundale on the grounds of what would become the Bathurst Jewish Community Centre and the Lipa Green building.

Accession consists of graphic material and textual records documenting Canadian Young Judaea. Included are photographic albums, loose photographs, clippings, photographic contact sheets and negatives, and textual records, including meeting minutes, correspondences, etc. All of the items relate to Ontario-based Jewish summer camps such as Camp Solelim and Camp Biluim, as well as to Canadian Young Judaea.

The Vanek family moved back and forth from the Newmarket/Oak Ridges area to Toronto many times until the 1930s. Jacob Vanek had business and personal interests in both country and city, as reflected in the contents of this file.

File consists of statements, receipts,and correspondence concerning Jacob Vanek's business transactions. Included is a "subscription blank" from the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of Toronto.
The Shackmans were relatives of the Vaneks, and a Canadian branch lived on a farm near the Cedar Valley farm. Nathan Shackman is a retired doctor in Los Angeles.

File consists of personal letters from Shackman to Vanek relating to his family as well as the family genealogy.
Letters pertaining to professional matters of Judge Vanek. Included is correspondence from W. G. C. Howland, chief justice of Ontario; musician Louis Applebaum; and Professor Martin Friedland.
File consists of Ben Dunkleman's personal correspondence with various people including, David Ben-Gurion, Theodore Kollek, Chaim Herzog and Chaim Laskov. The correspondence relates to such topics as Ben and Yael Dunkelman's marriage, the death of Rose Dunkelman, and New Year celebrations.
Dunkelman maintained private correspondence with a wide variety of friends, from well-known people such as composer Leonard Bernstein, former Israeli defence minister Shimon Peres and former Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin to his father David, the lawyer Carl Goldenberg and his father-in-law, David Lifshitz. One correspondence is with Fred Johnson, an acquaintance from the end of the Arab-Israeli War. Fred Johnson helped Ben and Yael establish themselves in Israel in the years following the war. Johnson wrote to Dunkelman in 1975 and they resumed correspondence.

Sub-series contains 12 files of personal correspondence between Benjamin (and sometimes Yael) Dunkelman and family, friends and acquaintances on such subjects as Ben and Yael's marriage, buying a new apartment, condolences for the death of a friend's mother, Yitzhak Rabin's assassination and a retirement application.
File consists of two related telegrammes between Ben Dunkelman and the publishing house MacMillan of Canada in connection with the cost of exporting 700 copies of Dual Allegiance from Canada to Israel.
File consists of a letter from Ben Dunkelman to Globus Films, based in Israel. In the letter, Dunkelman remarks on publicity his book Dual Allegiance has received in Israel and discusses the possibility of a film based on the book.
File consists of notes, memorandums and unsigned option agreements relating to Ben Dunkelman's attempt to negotiate an agreement with Quadrant Films. This contract would allow Quadrant Films to create a film based on Dunkelman's autobiography Dual Allegiance.
File contains correspondence between Ben Dunkelman and Bernard Solomon, a Toronto lawyer, in connection with the possibility of making a film based on Dual Allegiance.
File consists of a proposal for a TV documentary special by Stornoway Productions called "Promises to Keep: The Story of Ben Dunkelman". The proposal includes a biography of Ben Dunkelman, clippings about his experiences during the Second World War and the Arab-Israeli War, and reviews of previous documentaries produced by Stornoway Productions.
File consists of dues statements and notices of meetings of the Rokeah Chapter of Rho Pi Phi. The meetings are either social events or continuing education programmes sponsored by the chapter. Also included is correspondence from Rho Pi Phi's head office.
File consists of advertising flyers announcing an anniversary drug sale and promotional prescription envelopes from Edell's Drug Store at 1978 Queen Street West. The name, address and phone number of the store are printed on the prescription envelopes. Also included is a blank prescription slip of Dr. I.A. Grenville, which advertises Edell's Drug Store on Queen Street.
File consists of correspondence between tenants and Elmdale Investment relating to expenses, rent and building repairs. Also included is a lease agreement.

File consists of lyrics written by Anne Kaplan for the 100th anniversary of Canada's conferderation. This document was likely collected by Sol Edell for the OJA.
Sub-series consists of correspondence maintained in the central registry file system of the JIAS Central Region office. It contains letters exchanged with other agencies and individuals, and well as with the National JIAS headquarters in Montreal and the Western Region office in Winnipeg. Sub-series also contains files named for JIAS presidents and executive members, which contain incoming and outgoing correspondence created by, and in some cases about, the individual. The sub-series is arranged in its original alphabetical-chronological order.

Arrangement
This sub-series was created by the archivist from records originally part of series MG2 I1a K2 "Immigration Files - Administration, Projects." In the JIAS office, files were maintained in a central registry system of random numerical classification (these original numbers remain on the files).
File consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence with Mandel Kraicer, executive director, during his trip to Europe. His letters investigate the plight of Displaced Persons and discuss immigrant entry and care packages.
