The scrapbook also includes newspaper clippings of articles written by and about fraternity members; correspondence with members, alumni and other chapters of the fraternity; wedding invitations and holiday greeting cards; and the signatures of people who attended various events. There is a large reunion sign-in card tucked in at the back of the scrapbook as well as photographs.

- File consists of a scrapbook documenting the participation of Trudy Cowan, her brother Michael Cowan, and cousin Phil Cowan in dramatic productions in high school, university, and beyond. Included are events staged by the drama group at Bathurst Heights Collegiate, B'nai Brith Youth, Simpson's Collegiate Drama Festival, the Ontario One Act Play Festival, and the Univerity College Follies at Hart House, University of Toronto. Trudy played leading roles in many of the productions and Michael acted as musical director and played piano at rehearsals. Memorabilia in the scrapbook includes tickets, programmes, newspaper clippings, photographs, and correspondence. The last event is a 1989 production at Heritage Park Calgary in which Trudy Cowan portrayed Nellie McClung as well as producing the event.

The majority of clippings are from the Daily Hebrew Journal, the Daily Packet and Times, the Mail and Empire, the Evening Telegram, the Toronto Daily Star, the Globe and Mail, the Jewish Standard, the Yiddisher Zhurnal, View, the Toronto Jewish Reporter and the Canadian Jewish News. A large number of articles relate to Folks Farein charitable activities for the sick and needy in Ontario hospitals, sanatoriums, and asylums, Passover meals and seders, concerts, the annual fund raising campaign, beauty contest and New Years Eve Ball, the 50th Anniversary Jubilee Year celebration, the Children's Haven at Kfar Saba Israel, and the Toronto Israel Bond Drive. Of note is an article entitled Folks Farein 35 years of devoted service to the Jewish community. Included in the article are reprints of excerpts from the Hebrew Journal of 1914 addressing the activity of missionary groups seeking to convert members of the immigrant Jewish community and the Anti-Conversion Farein society organized to counteract the work of the missionaries.

- File consists of one scrapbook detailing the Eta chapter's activities. The first scrapbook (1937-1958) is the earliest record of the Eta Chapter's activities. It is mentioned in the booklet "An Introduction to Beta Sigma Rho", which can be found in file 6. It contains both textual and graphic material including, programmes and photographs documenting the fraternity's theatre shows, dinner-dance invitations, photographs of pledge parties, newspaper clippings featuring or written by fraternity members, a sketch of a Beta Sigma Rho Superman by Joe Shuster, photographs from national and regional conferences, and photographs of the chapter's weekend at the University of Western Ontario in 1950. Found at the back of the scrapbook is a document entitled, The Constitution of Eta Chapter of Beta Sigma Rho Fraternity, revised October, 1957.

- DATE RANGE NOTE: The superman drawing was likely drawn sometime around 1940. Joe Shuster's cousin, Frank Shuster, graduated from the University of Toronto in 1939, although it is possible that the drawing could have been given to the fraternity after that time. Joe Shuster did not attend the fraternity as he had lived in Cleveland since 1924. However, he used to visit his cousin Frank Shuster in the summers. There is evidence that the Superman character as depicted in this drawing was already being "shopped around" by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel, prior to its first publication in 1938 and indeed, the character itself dates back to 1933. As well, similar drawings have surfaced from the same time period.

Of note is a document describing the family's grief after Theo's untimely death, as well as invitations to the installation of the Alpha Nu Chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Phi fraternity.

- Accession consists of two bound srapbooks documenting the political and communal life of Herbert Orliffe. Included are newsclippings and official invitations to ceremonies and events.
- Administrative History
- Herbert Orliffe (1905-1967) was a QC barrister and solicitor who owned his own practice, Herbert Orliffe QC. He specialized in labour law and was the first Chairman of the Ontario Jurisdictional Disputes Commission. He was born on May 5, 1905 to Anne and Charles Orliffe in Newcastle, England. Herbert married Ida Goren and they had four children: Annabel, Joan, Barbara and Robert. His affiliations included: Jewish Public Library, Canadian Jewish News, Jewish Welfare Fund, Board of Jewish Education, Beth Tzedec Congregation, Sunnyside Lodge IOOF, Palestine Lodge AF & AM, Toronto Board of Trade, and the Empire Club. Herbert was also the first Jewish Chairman of the Toronto Board of Education in 1952, an alderman for Ward Four in 1954, and a member of Municipality Toronto Council in 1956. He died suddently of a heart attack in 1967.

- Accession consists of one Shopsy's Delicatessen menu from March 1985. The deli introduced a new menu on 1 April 1985. It is a laminated, oversized, three-panel menu and is from the deli located at Yonge and Front Streets, across from the former O'Keefe Centre.
- Administrative History
- Harry and Jennie Shopsowitz started the family business, Shopsy's Delicatessen, in 1921. The first location was on Spadina Avenue at Dundas Street and was initially an ice-cream parlour, although they quickly converted it into a delicatessen in 1922. Shopsy's became an institution in the city where the likes of Bob Hope, Al Waxman, Dennis Hull and Scotty Bowman were regular customers. Harry's three sons took over the business in 1947. The brothers, Sam and Israel, expanded the business by packaging and distributing their hotdogs and corned beef to grocery stores. Sam Shopsowitz, the more gregarious of the two brothers, was known as the "Corned Beef King."

- Accession consists of one issue of the Jewish Standard, from June 2004, two scanned copy photographs of Sid Slepkov during the Second World War, and one scanned copy photograph of Sid's father Morris in front of his clothing store, the Fashion Cloak and Fur Co. in St. Catharines, Ontario.

- This accession consists of material documenting the donor's family, particularly her father, Nathan Rivelis. The items include a vest and hat worn by her father during the late 1950s as part of the Lion's Club. It also consists of an oral history of her father conducted in 1983; his school primer and English reader; photographs of the business and Hebrew classes; certificates; and, finally, newspaper clippings.
- Administrative History
- The Rivelis family owned a large clothing store in North Bay from 1926 until 1986 called Rivelis. They sold men's and women's mid-range clothing and became famous in town for their annual sale held on 16 November. The business grew from a small family-run store to a large department store with twelve employees.
- In addition to running the business, Nate Rivelis was also involved in the local Lion's Club and was the president of this organization from 1957-1958. He was the only Jewish member at that time. In addition, he also served as the president of the Hebrew school during the 1940s.

- Accession consists of brochures from the Cherney family businesses: their furniture store of fifty years, followed by Cherney Realty, established after 1984. Also included are a pamphlet on the Erica Cherney Inspiration Fund of the Community Counselling and Resource Centre of Peterborough. There is also a memorial card for the death of Harry Cherney in 1984. Electronic records include articles about Cherney's and Erica Cherney, City of Peterborough Awards of Merit for Harry and Erica Cherney, and four photographs.

- Joseph "Joe the Orange Man" Fremar was a produce merchant in Kensington Market and opened his location at 234 Augusta Avenue in 1938. Fremar, commonly referred to as the "Orange Man," was a member of the Kiever Synagogue.

- Bertha Allen (née Herbert) was married to Herbert Allen. Herbert, his brothers Jule and J. J., and his brother-in-law Louis Rosenfeld were pioneers in the motion picture industry in Canada. They opened a chain of theatres across Canada in the 1910s and 1920s. In Toronto, they built several theatres including the Tivoli Theatre, Bloor Theatre, College Theatre, Parkdale Theatre, Beach Theatre, St. Clair Theatre, Danforth Theatre, and Hollywood Theatre.

- Biography
- Isidore Kaplan was born in Vilna in 1910. His father was the first Jew to settle in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Isidore's father, a successful businessman, opened a general store in 1915 and a movie theatre in 1923. The Jewish community of Kirkland Lake grew to 135 families and was able to support a synagogue, kosher butcher, and after-school cheder at its peak.

- Dr. Sydney Wise was a Toronto physician and a long-time volunteer at the Ontario Jewish Archives. Sydney was married to Mimi Wise, who had been an active member of Hadassah-WIZO for most of her life. Sydney's father, Anshel Wise, opened a cigar store on Dundas Street, which later turned into a steamship agency called A. Wise Travel Bureau. The latter helped bring immigrants over from Europe.

- Rheta Rosen (née Rosen) was the daughter of Nathan Rivelis, the owner of Rivelis, a large clothing store in North Bay from 1926 until 1986. The business grew from a small, family-run store into a large department store employing between twenty-five and thirty people. The store was famous for their annual sale held yearly on 16 November. Rheta became a full-time professor in family studies at Ryerson University. She was coordinator of the Learning and Teaching Office and coordinator of the Interpersonal Skills Teaching Centre, Simulation Program. Rheta's area of interest and research lay in the area of intergenerational relationships in the older family. She was a family mediator focusing on issues in the older family, adult children, and their ageing parents. Rheta Rosen died on 22 August 2016.
