This accession consists of ten issues of the Leonard Athletic Club's newsletter entitled "The Athlete". The issues date from March 1926 to December 1927.
The Leonard Athletic Club was organized in March 1924, with the purpose of developing Jewish athletes and having a bigger Jewish representation on the sports field. The name was in honour of Benny Leonard, at the time, the undefeated Lightweight Champion of the World. The Club was similar to other Jewish athletic clubs and city playgrounds of the time, and they often competed against them in various sports and activities. The Athlete was edited by Hye Bossin.
