The files contains copies of the two studies by Dr. Uriah Z. Engelman of Jewish education in Toronto, completed in 1947-1948 and in 1959-1961 for the United Jewish Welfare Fund. The first study is entitled "Jewish education in Toronto : a preliminary report", and the second is "Financing Jewish education in Toronto, 1950 to 1959-1960 and some related problems : preliminary report." The first report led to the establishment of the Bureau of Jewish Education. The second report was never formally accepted by the UJWF, but was circulated in draft form. The file also includes a copy of a paper by Joseph Diamond commenting on Engelman's 1961 report.
