- Scope and Content
- Item consists of Rabbi Monson's commentary. He expresses condolences to members of the Toronto Jewish community; announces a luncheon meeting which was to be held by the Workmen's Circle Social Club on 23 December 1986, where the tickets for the Miami holiday were to be distributed, and a Hanukkah luncheon on 30 December, where he was to be the guest speaker; thanks for donations on behalf of Ofir Savir, who was about to arrive in Toronto, and for accommodation arrangements made by members of the community; and thanks for donations to the Nursing College of the Shaare Zedek Medical Center and to the Shaare Zedek Department of Laboratory Medicine. He then discusses the United States' shipment of arms to Iran, according to him, from a Jewish perspective: he states that both Iran and Iraq hate the Jewish people and that, were they not fighting each other, they would be fighting Israel. Therefore, according to him, it would be advantageous to Israel and to Jews that Iran and Iraq obliterated one another.
