- Scope and Content
- Item consists of Rabbi Monson's segment. In this edition, he congratulates several members of Toronto's Jewish community for their birthdays and wedding anniversaries, and thanks the donations made on their behalf to several Jewish and Israeli organizations and institutions, namely the Shaare Zedek Medical Center, the Israel Soldiers Welfare Fund, the Na'amat Adopt a Child Program, the Kupat Holim, the Histadrut, and the Baycrest Home for the Aged. He also comments on Pope John Paul II's invitation to Austrian president Kurt Waldheim for a visit to the Vatican and the protests that ensued. Finally, he comments on Lybian president Muammar Gaddafi's recent speach in which he claims that Arab nations "should possess nuclear weapons in their quests for development and to liberate Palestine."
