- Scope and Content
- Item consists of a Spotlight On Science recording. Zelda Young and David Andrews interview newly-appointed Executive Director of the Canadian Society for the Weizmann Institute, Adam Cahoon. Born and raised in South Africa, he moved to Israel to do his master's in Communications at the Hebrew University. Then, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he lived for five years and worked with the Joint Israel Appeal of Great Britain and Jewish Solidarity, before returning to Israel. He then moved back to South Africa, where he became the Campaign Director of the United Jewish Appeal, before returning once more to Israel to work with Keren Hayesod. Finally, he resettled in Toronto, where he became Campaign Director of the United Jewish Appeal. He talks about his roles as Executive Director, which include fund raising, assisting the Weizmann Institute in assuming a leadership role, informing the public about the work being conducted at the institute, assuring scholarships and exchange with other research institutions and the scientific community, among other organizational roles.
