- Scope and Content
- Item consists of a recording of Aliyah Corner. David Bale interviews via telephone the Representative for Rural Settlement [name unintelligible] of the Israel Aliyah Center in New York about the community villages (yishuv kehilati) of Israel. He explains their composition (between 200 and 250 families), religious affiliation (religious, secular, or mixed), location (newly settled areas of the country, close to urban centres), structure (services, education, businesses, etc.), demographic composition (20% of the population not born in Israel), and their differences in comparison to other types of Zionist settlements such as the kibbutz and the moshav.
