- Scope and Content
- Item consists of a recording of Aliyah Corner. David Bale interviews via telephone Mark Apolsky, a Toronto native who made aliyah and settled in Arad and works in the Dead Sea area. Apolsky, 31, married, two sons, moved to Israel when he was 22 years old. He talks about the Dead Sea area as a tourist destination and as an industrial area. According to him, the Dead Sea is rich in minerals, such as brome, chlorine, phosphate, salt, etc. He works at Dead Sea Periclase, in the extraction of magnesium oxide for the plastics, rubber, and pharmaceutical industries. He praises life in Arad as a good, clean, and quiet town with a high standard of living.
