- Scope and Content
- Item consist of a newscast for The Jewish Hour, likely part of the Page One segment. The newscast starts with information about the limnic eruption at Lake Nyos, in Cameroon, reporting that Israeli doctors were sent to the area. Also mentioned are negotiations between Israel and Egypt over Taba, a small territory on the Gulf of Aqaba claimed by both countries (includes excerpts of interviews with Israeli Prime-Minister Shimon Peres and Egyptian diplomat Mohammed Bassiouni in which both affirm that the negotiations are one step towards piece between the two countries, as well as with cabinet minister without portfolio Moshe Arens, who was against the negotiations, claiming that Taba is an integral part of Eilat); and the approval given to the Church of Latter Day Saints to build a university in Jerusalem, seen by many as a possible tool devised by the church to proselytize Jews in Israel (includes an excerpt of an interview with the university's director Spencer Farmer claiming that this is not the function of the school, as well as with protest spokesman Dr. Moshe Mann, who doubts that the agreement against proselytism will be followed).
