- The American ORT Foundation, founded in 1880, is the only global Jewish educational network. It operates as a non-profit organization with a mission to provide access to educational programs in under-resourced communities worldwide. Originally established to teach essential trades and professions to nineteenth-century Russian Jews, the ORT Foundation has evolved into a foundational institution in Jewish communities across more than forty countries.
- Scope and Content
- Sub-series consists of correspondence from Chaim Weintraub, secretary of the American ORT Federation, to Max Hartstone and the United Ostrovtzer Aid Committee. The documents address a specific misunderstanding regarding the delivery of a sewing machine to Wolf Mints in Paris, France.
