- Uriel Chaim “Chil” Gewandszniter (b. 1901) was born in Ostrowiec, Poland, the son of Eliyahu Cheshler. He returned to Ostrowiec in late 1945.
- Alternate spellings of his surname include Guvachnitr and Gevontsniter.
- Scope and Content
- File consists of a letter from Uriel Chaim "Chil" Gewandszniter in Ostrowiec, Poland, to N. Rotman, dated 20 December 1945. The writer expresses his sorrow at being the only surviving member of his family and mentions that there are very few Jews left in Ostrowiec. He writes that he would like to travel to Toronto and asks the recipient for updates on their health and business. Envelope is included. File also contains a typed translation.
