- In December 1967, members of Toronto's UJA Leadership Fact-Finding Commission travelled to Israel to participate in a twelve-day fact-finding mission to study the country's health and welfare needs. The following individuals were members of the commission: Sam Crystal, Dr. Hart Levin, J. Irving Zucker, Morris Leibtag, Dr. Leonard Goldberg, Rabbi Albert Pappenheim, Phillip G. Givens, J. C. Oelbaum, Jack Israeli, Harold Hertzman, Dr. George Liban, Samuel Gotfrid, Dr. Wilfred Rovan, and David Marks.
- Series comprises 149 photographs taken on the mission described above. Locations documented include the Golan Heights, Jerusalem, Nablus, and Safed. Individuals documented include David Ben-Gurion, the first prime minister of Israel; Levi Eshkol, the then prime minister of Israel; Philip Givens, the former mayor of Toronto; and Zalman Shazar, the then president of Israel. According to the donor, the photographs were taken by Sam Crysal; however, several photographs have a photographer's stamp on verso which credit Zev Radovan of Jerusalem as the photographer.

Possible caption options scrawled on the back of the photo read, "Fun with their wives," and "A weighty problem." The 1970 mission occurred in 1969. The last photo depicts a UJA mission group arriving in Israel; Sol Granek and H. Wayne Tanenbaum (4th from right) are identified in the accompanying descriptive notes, and on the back of the photo "Wayne Tanenbaum's 1970 Mission" is written.
